Coraline by Neil Gaiman - 5/5I absolutely loved this little story, I finished it in a day because it is so easy to read. I found Coraline a fascinating character and even though I am 23yrs old, I found this book quite scary, if I was a child I could imagine I would have nightmares.
Neil Gaiman is such a wonderful storyteller, I found the style of writing quite poetic and it helped it run along so smoothly. I am now determined to read more by him because I enjoyed the style he writes in. I have already got Stardust and I am planning to read it soon and this book has made me more excited about reading it.
Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson 4/5 - I still need to get the guide but this is on someone else's list so I assume it is in there. :)I read this in one afternoon as it is a very small book and I found to be a very sweet story if not a sad one at the end. I liked the characters, especially May Belle who I found quite funny. I would have given this 5 stars but I felt it could have done with being a little longer. I would have liked to have read more about Jess's and Leslie's friendship.
2 more books recently read:Anne Frank The Diary of a Young Girlwhich I gave 4/5.
1984 which I also gave 4/5.
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath 5/5I noticed this book on a friends list and after reading the synopsis I decided to give it a go. I wasn't expecting it to become one of the best books I have read. I think it is easy to relate to the character Esther Greenwood, I am sure most of us have felt lost at some point in our lives and Plath's way with words helps show us her suffering. I liked Esther too, I found her to be a fascinating character who was witty and smart. A brilliant book that I think everyone should read.
