369169 Votes are in.... see who won!

Please read the rules for nominating BEFORE you create your post!!

We will have two catagories this month:
Cat1- Regular Fiction/Non-Fiction
Cat2- Mystery/Crime

Only ONE nomination per person.
If you nominate a book for catagory 1, you CANNOT nominate a book for catagory 2, and visa versa.

Please be sure to post the title, author, and the catagory it belongs to.

If your post does not have those three things, it will not be counted.

Are you ready?
I will accept nominations through Sunday night. If we get tons of nominations, I may pull the plug on it a little early, so get them in as soon as you can!

Once I close nominations I will create the polls and let you know when it is time to vote!

Hit us with your best noms!

1356469 Category 2 -

An Unpardonable Crime by Andrew Taylor. That is the US title. In the UK it is known as The American Boy!

I put the US title first because I think the majority here are from the US.

Hello!

For Category 1, I would like to nominate One of Ours by Willa Cather.

Here is the description:

"One of Ours is Willa Cather's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel about the making of an American soldier. Claude Wheeler, the sensitive but aspiring protagonist, has ready access to his family's fortune but refuses to settle for it. Alienated from his uncaring father and pious mother, and rejected by a wife whose only love is missionary work, Claude is an idealist without ideals to cling to.

Only when his country enters the Great War does he find the meaning of his life. In One of Ours, Willa Cather explores the life of a young Nebraskan whose ambitions drive him to a frontier wilder and more violent than the one tamed by his pioneer ancestors."

I think it would be an appropriate November read, in honour of Remembrance Day.

116025 Cat 2: Berlin Noir March Violets; The Pale Criminal; A German Requiem by Philip Kerr

Because even after 15 years since being published it's still noir at its best. Taking his cues from Chandler but making them its own, Kerr takes us into Berlin, 1936.

Hi Lori!

For what it`s worth...I think there are enough to choose from with a lot of good books on each list. The more books there are the weirder the percentages get split.

I really like the monthly reads so I hope it will continue (and thanks for doing it thus far!!). Maybe people are switching into Thanksgiving and Christmas mode. November and December get a bit funky for demands on people`s time.
