Are you guys going to be doing anything?
I'm going to be either Carrie (from the Stephen King) or Rizzo (from Grease). The former's easy and cheap, but I really want this dress.
I'm also helping decorate a party, which is gonna be great because I have a lot of Halloween decorations anyway, and I pretty much use them all year around. I have a decapitated head hanging from the ceiling of my room.
My plans are pretty simple - I plan on dressing up, a bit, as a "dark fairy", and giving out candy. This generally consists of wearing clothes I already have, and throwing on a pair of wings. (Though I've been thinking about making it a cyber fairy, mostly because I really want an excuse to buy these goggles.
I'm not going overboard on inside decoration this year (I also have a lot of regular decor which is Halloweeny), but I have decorated the window and just got a package of stuff for outside in the mail yesterday. This is my first Halloween ever in my own house, instead of an apartment, so the first time I have a lawn. It's not much of a lawn, granted, but it's something.
We usually go to the movies and try and see a scary movie, if there's one out. And, at home, after the candy giving, we watch some more. For the last few years we've been catching up on "horror classics" - The Shining, the first of Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Hellraiser. Gotta say, overall, I haven't been that impressed.
Last year we went cheesy with 'Plan 9 from Outer Space' and this year we're planning on having a mini Hammer Horror marathon. Building up to the actual day, though, I usually go for more atmospheric stuff, like Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow, Nightmare Before Christmas, Dark City, the Crow, so on and so forth. Unfortunately I've been crazy busy this year, so haven't had nearly enough time to properly get into the spirit. Ah well, there's still time left. :>
I have never ever seen the Crow. I want to so bad. I should rent it this year. All I know is that the actor died by accident on set. D:
I love the Nightmare on Elm Street series, but I'm share the same sense of humor. The old Friday the 13th's and Halloween's honestly bore me if I'm not in the mood to watch them.
I just went to the Coffin Races yesterday. It's a parade with shiny Hearses and people who built their coffins to race. I was actually lucky to have a friend who lived in a house above the stores, so we watched over the balcony. We also threw candy down at children (though some got hit in the head a couple of times). It was hilarious, like feeding sharks. I had a lot of fun.
It's a good movie, but, yeah, bad history...
The Coffin Races sound like fun. We don't have anything around here like that that I'm aware of. Pity - I don't do a lot of community things, but I'd probably show up for that. >:>
I don't either, but October has the best. There was actually a Zombie Crawl up in Denver--trying to break the world record for most "zombies" walking down--but I wasn't able to go. I regret it though; I wish I went so bad. D:
