Just published a historical novel, The French Blue. The story is set in 17th Century France, Persia and India, follows the adventures of one of the most interesting men of the century, Jean Baptiste Tavernier. Between 1630-1668, Tavernier made six voyages to India. At the end of his last voyage he sold a fabulous 112 carat blue diamond to Louis XIV of France. Louis paid him 220,000 livres (147 kilos of gold) ennobled him and Tavernier became Baron of Aubonne. The Great Blue Diamond? Today what remains we call the Hope Diamond, but for the first 250 years of its existence it was called The French Blue.
Looking for a list of 17th Century historical novels. Seems to be a dearth of them.
