Did Rene and Tessa make a good couple? The simmering passion wasn't truly there until after they were intimate. I can't really describe what happened/changed. Perhaps Tessa finally let go of any ties to her old life and wanted, fully, to be with Rene. Hmmm?
Do you think you would recommend this book to others?
Depends on their pref. It is far from a typical vamp romance. I do like the writing style.
Would you change anything?
Yeah, lol, the ending. Needs about another few pages. An explanation. If book 3 brushes that off, I'll be ticked.
Would you read other books by Sara Reinke?
Yes. I like her writing, world creation, and characters. In that order D
Did you like the plot?
I actually did like the plot. Seeing parts of Bk 1 through Tessa's eyes. Learning truths about the Brethren. It was mysterious without being tedious.
What did you think of the Brethren history/mystery?
I liked it and hope to learn more.
Are you going to read the rest of the series?
Yes. I plan on buying book 3
How long did it take you to get into the book?
I think once I 'felt' through Tess her abuse[while pregnant:], as her husband beat her and then Rene rescuing her and then their first intimate encounter. Then Rene's after thoughts. That whole section brought it out of a creative PNR to a more realistic plane. I connected to the character. Then the author brings you back into the paranormal story. Sara Reinke does that well.

Ya these buddy reads can go on as long as the people involved wishes it.These are NOT limited to time like the monthly reads.
(Hell and even those threads never get deleted so people can post in them later if they want)
Cindi: I take care of patients out of surgery. It is difficult telling someone to stay put/stay still when all they want to do is get up and use the bathroom on their own. It is hard to try and keep your spirits up but please do. Feel free to come back at a later date and post your thoughts on the book =D.
I am sorry to hear that Cindi :( My Grandma did the same thing. She just had her whole hip replaced :(I hope he has a speedy recovering, I will keep him in my thoughts.
Ya'll, I'm going to have to beg out on this one. My 84 yr old father fell Sunday and broke his hip, had surgery Wed. but is very weak. He had dementia from the anesthesia and keeps trying to get out of bed . . . Anyway, the acute crises is over but the next few weeks probably will be difficult w/ his PT so I'm not counting on shopping time to find my book. I'll catch ya'll on the next one, tho.
I like Sara Reinke enough to consider trying her historical romance and I believe she wrote some fantasy novels.
I really like Tessa and Rene. Tessa is not annoying and Rene is not so stubborn his machoness makes him unbearable, you know, while they fight their attraction. LOL. I like the structure of the Brethren and how Tessa sees what a prison it was living there.
Chap. 1 & 2Will try and tag each post.
Liking the start so far. The information about the Brethren heritage and Tessa and Rene's growing relationship is a perfect beginning.
I think I am really going to enjoy this as much as DARK THIRST. These characters are featured as secondary in DARK THIRST. It seems as though you can read this even if you haven't read Bk 1.
I have a PB to finish and hopefully will be starting DARK HUNGER tomorrow. I am glad e have Buddy reads as well =D.
I liked it. Different? Just depends on what you're looking for. The hero had a disability (deaf and mute) which is really REALLY rare in romance, and the relationship was bi-racial. Also unusual.
As for starting Dark Hunger, grrr. I just got an ebook reader, and was hoping to use it to read the copy on my computer. However, I have somehow lost access to that book on my computer!!! Foul technology. So now I have a copy on the way via Paperback Swap.
I'm so glad you started this topic! I'd read it already and liked it ok so should have the author on my watch for list. Thanks!
P.S.: Did anyone read the 1st book in the series? I haven't and the description doesn't sound all that different from a million other books . . . is it?
I have to read it and have it sent out for a swap. But If you happen to finish it and want to post later, that is fine =D. The thread will be here and open. Should I add you as a participant?
I'd like to read this one, but I don't know if I'll be able to start it soon enough for much discussion.
