2610153 Mad-Eye is...INTERESTING

2610885 I don't know. Let's get back to the main topic.

1675990 Sirius is a real comfort to Harry most of the time, but Sirius's recklessness causes Harry to worry about his safety. Aside from the recklessness I think he does all he can for Harry and wishes he could do more. After his death, Harry realizes that Sirius never kept him waiting. His care for Harry is why Sirius came to save him in the first place. It is true, though, that Sirius never grows to be as mature as Lupin because he is sent to Azkaban at a young age. JKR said about him:

"I see Sirius as someone who was a case of arrested development. I think you see that from his relationship with Harry in 'Phoenix.' He kind of wants a mate from Harry, and what Harry craves is a father."

I always loved him, but I think he should have helped Harry more.

2541891 I loved Sirius, but his character was getting kinda pointless.

message 49: by Pandy (new)

1675990 Yeah; Harry has to lose his father figures, so that he can face his ultimate test alone.

2610153 I am reading the whole series for the 2nd time and I' almost done with OOP. I've always thought that it's just barely too long. I mean most of it is just Harry being mad at people. I also thought that JK should have just left Cho out of it. But I guess that's how he discovers that he really like Ginny. I also hate how Sirius had to die. I really think JK should have let him live just a little longer. But if he lived any longer I bet that he would probably help Harry on the whole "Horcruxes" thing. I personally think that if Sirius lived any longer the story would get less and less interesting.

1889852 I think Bellatrix is a really cool villainess! She's probably my favorite.

message 46: by Pandy (new)

1675990 I love the fifth! It's close to being my favorite, but I think I enjoy DH a bit better. I like how OotP is dark throughout - it shows what a difficult period of life Harry is going through, as nearly the whole society is against him. Harry's outbursts are completely understandable and show how he has grown. As for Umbridge, she's the best part of the book in my opinion. She's my favorite villain and it's just so much fun to love to hate her. JKR has said that OotP could have been shorter and that she ran out of time and patience at the end, but I didn't ever feel as though the story dragged.

message 45: by Lindsay (new)

1889852 I think that it was just all this pointless stuff happening and Harry had anger issues. There would be full paragraphs in all capital letters.

message 44: by Ella (new)

2610153 I thought that the 5th was written very well. Although I personally thought that the amount of time between when Harry fought off the dementors in the beginning and then the hearing was too long. I thought that the hearing seemed to drag on FOREVER! I also am not crazy about the 5th because of Umbridge (she irritates me), and because of how Sirius dies.

message 43: by Lindsay (new)

2541891 I like the 6th, slughorn and his parties are funny

2610885 My least favorite was the 5th. It seemed to keep dragging on and on.

I just mean that some parts seemed to take forever. I mean I liked all of the tasks, and Voldemort being "re-born". Other than the long parts that seemed to take too long to explain I really enjoyed the book.

message 40: by Courtney (new)

2495238 Haha, yeah. It's awesome!

message 39: by Lindsay (new)

2541891 I know, the tasks are pretty cool. Who knew the lake had mermaids? I also like the whole Rita Skeeter scandal.

message 38: by Courtney (new)

2495238 Yeah, I really liked the fourth book too...I thought the tasks were awesome! And the Yule Ball.

message 37: by Lindsay (new)

2541891 Oh I love the fourth book! My favorite part is the Yule ball

message 36: by Pandy (new)

1675990 You thought it was boring, even with the Triwizard Tasks and Voldemort's "rebirth" at the end?

message 35: by Ella (new)

2610153 I thought that the 4th book was actually kinda boring.

2610885 I KNOW! THERE WERE SO MANY OTHER THINGS THAT COULD OF HAPPENED!

message 33: by Ella (new)

2610153 I think that the whole explanation for how Barty Crouch disguised himself as Mad-eye seemed to drag on FOREVER!

No matter how you look at it, it doesn't make sense that they came up with this master plan to get Harry to touch the trophy which was a portkey. They could've done something much simpler! And why didn't they just use a gun to shoot Voldemort or something? Things could've ended years ago if the wizards would've let go of their magic pride and used some muggle inventions. Not even the Dark Lord can dodge a bullet! He's not Neo. >:}"

THE MATRIX!!!! That is one awesome movie!! I sorta wish it was real and I was one of those people and no one was a traitor.

2495238 Lindsay, you don't stand a chance against Lindsay.

message 18: by Lindsay (new)

2541891 Lindsay wrote: "Oh, I thought you were saying the he didn't die. But still, he was turned into a bone and buried nonetheless! I remember that from the harry potter scholastic quiz! I think I'll take that right now..." I shall beat you!

message 17: by Courtney (new)

2495238 Yes, I remember that from somewhere to...how morbid.

message 16: by Lindsay (new)

1889852 Oh, I thought you were saying the he didn't die. But still, he was turned into a bone and buried nonetheless! I remember that from the harry potter scholastic quiz! I think I'll take that right now because I have nothing else to do...

message 15: by Courtney (new)

2495238 Yeah, I wouldn't question Lindsay...haha.

message 14: by Lindsay (new)

2541891 yeah, after he was imperioused! Then after he fought the curse, mad eye said he would go look for crouch and actually killed him and burried him in Hagrid's yard. I think I would know...

message 13: by Lindsay (new)

1889852 No, didn't he get turned into a bone and then buried?

message 12: by Lindsay (new)

2541891 in the movie yeah, but in the book Barty Crouch was actually put under the imperious curse by his son, but eventually fought it off and escaped. That's why people said he was ill, but he really escaped from his son.

message 11: by Lindsay (new)

1889852 He does it a little bit as Mad Eye, which is how his dad figured out that he was Barty Crouch Junior, which is why he killed his dad.

"Barty Crouch... Junior."

message 10: by Lindsay (new)

2541891 Lindsay wrote: "Oh yeah! Didn't he do that weird thing with his tongue? "

Yeah, and I think he was muttering to himself! I have a question: why does Barty Crouch Jr. do that thing with his tounge when he's revealed, but does he do it as mad eye?
