Nophoto-f-25x33 This is my first book challenge.

I am challenging myself to read a greater variety of books than my usual historical romance genre.

This challenge is in two parts.

Part One: To Finish the many books that I am currently in the middle of and have been for a WHILE. The books are:

* Sex with the Queen 900 Years of Vile Kings, Virile Lovers, and Passionate Politics

* The Six Wives of Henry VIII

* Soul Harvest

* A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon

Part Two: To read at least ten books that are either:

* Historical Non-Fiction

* Biography

* Considered a Classic

* Religious Fiction

and to finish the Left Behind Series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.

The list of the ten(minimum) books that I would like to read for my challenge have yet to be decided.

Update - 10/9

The following books are now a part of my challenge list(They are not in any particular order):

1. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

2. Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen

3. The Mirror Effect How Celebrity Narcissism Is Seducing America by Dr. Drew Pinsky

4. Mirrors Stories of Almost Everyone by Edwardo Galeano

5. An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon

6. The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli

Possibilities

1776 by David McCullough

Suggestions are welcome.
Sincerely,

Jessica

P.S. - Thanks for the suggestions given so far. They have been helpful.

The Da Vinci Code is not exactly a religious fiction novel. It just has the Catholic Church as a character. It is not based on religious fact. But thanks for the ideas.

2595016 For Biography, anything written by David McCullough would be a great choice. Some are quite long but they are all great. Mornings on Horseback The Story of an Extraordinary Family, a Vanished Way of Life & the Unique Child Who Became Theodore Roosevelt is not as long as some of his other books. Truman is on my shelf to read. 1776 was fantastic (History not Biography). Be forwarned that McCullough books sometimes start a little slowly but once they get going they are difficult to put down :).

Nophoto-f-25x33 Liz - Thank you for the recommendations. I think I may look into 1776 by David McCullough.

Nophoto-f-25x33 I have finished A Breath of Snow and Ashes and am now working on An Echo in the Bone both by Diana Gabaldon.

I think Dr. Drew's book The Mirror Effect How Celebrity Narcissism Is Seducing America will be next.

As always suggestions are welcome and wanted.

- Jessica
