As romance readers, or even just readers, we come across heroes that are larger than life and make us swoon and wish that they can step off the page and be real.
I want to know who are the onesthat linger in your memory long after you have read their books.
Without thinking too hard, make a list of your top TEN favorite romantic heroes. It doesn't matter what genre, and whether they might be familiar names to us, or just known to you.
C'mon let's share the men that we secretly fantasize about. *grins wickedly*
Note: The challenge here is too limit yourself to 10. I'm sure we can come up with more, but stick to your top 10. Don't think too hard!
At random, and without thinking too hard, here is my list.
1. Gabriel "Sully" Ross Sullivan from Linnea Sinclair's Gabriel's Ghost and Shades of Dark
2. Vishous from Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood (any of the Brothers would actually do...LOL)
3. Jason Bourne from Robert Ludlum's Bourne trilogy (the book character...not the movie)
4. Christopher Seton from Woodiwiss' A Rose in Winter
5. Lord Anthony Malory from Johanna Lindsey's A Gentle Rouge
6. Francisco D'Anconia from Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged

8. Bones from Frost's Nighthuntress series
9. Sam Starett from Brockmann's Troubleshooter series
10. Judd from Singh's Caressed by Ice
I'm sure if I think more, my list will change..LOL

Wow, now that it's done, there are a lot of blondes, which is funny because I never go for real life blondes, and there is a lot of Sherrilyn Kenyon, which is because I just finished the Dark Hunter series..

Oh NO! I forgot about Eric Northman! I can't believe I forgot Eric! I might have to go back and replace someone...
LOL! Yeah, and what if my next book I crush on someone new and have to break up with one of my old crushes? LOL!
1) Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
There are many characters who've come and gone throughout my lifetime of reading but Mr. Darcy is my penultimate: arrogant (times infinity), intelligent, dashing, slightly flawed and rather heroic. All of the characters since then whom I have crushed on (Vishous, Leo Magozzi, Detective Stud Muffin from the Temperance Brennan books, Ranger, vampire Eric, Charles Cornick etc.) are variations on that one person - just in slightly different ways and definitely in different times. I was about 8 or 9 when I read the novel for the first time and cried when I realised Mr. Darcy was not real LOL
In no particular order, and subject to change...
1. Gen from The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner.
2. Falco from The Silver Pigs by Lindsey Davis (and the others in the series, of course!)
3. Jack Staple from The Toll-Gate by Georgette Heyer.
4. Hugo Darracott from The Unknown Ajax by Georgette Heyer.
5. George Cooper from Alanna The First Adventure, and others in the series, by Tamora Pierce.
6. Dawsey Adams The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer.
7. Mel from Sunshine by Robin McKinley.
8. Dag from Beguilement by Lois McMaster Bujold.
9. Corlath from The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley.
10. The Beast from Beauty A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast by Robin McKinley.
Confession time. I haven't ever - and don't ever intended to - read Austen... haven't watched the movies/TV series... it has passed me by!
As to Gilbert - he nearly made it into my list - but would probably have been superceeded by Matthew, if I had to pick ONE male character from Anne of Green Gables. Gilbert, I think, was much stronger in the later books - particularly Anne's house of dreams. Sorry - just found the chapter's online... chapter 18 - still can't read it without choking up... and the follow chapters aren't much easier.
I blogged about this a while ago - but this has made me think of 10...

GILBERT *sigh* I read the books and couldn't really picture him, then watched the tv series and fell in crush. I wanted to visit Prince Edward Island to visit but after the programme wanted to find my own Gilbert Blythe. Thank you for reminding me of Gilbert, Annie ;) He was foremost in my mind during my Intermediate years.
