Swann's Way -- new thread

Fearless Reader Cherlize suggested setting up a new thread for Swann's Way for our new group members, so here it is.
From my own personal experience, if you can get through Swann's Way, you can get through the rest of it.
Towards the end, he describes the supplanting of the old way with the new generation. I have just finished it. It was quite a journey, and it was worth it.So welcome: you who are the new generation of Proustians. Perhaps you will gafaw at our old posts and snigger at the ramblings of your elders.
I especially look forward to hearing from those of you who can compare and contrast the English version with the French. I can bet it is a lot smoother, there was a sense fro me that the original syntax was being stuffed into the English language and is a little lumpy in spots, but your mileage may differ?
Hi Ed, Laura and I are looking forward to reading together. She will be reading in French and I will be reading in English. I will gladly post my impressions but I am not Cherlize. I'm just a simple gal.
When I read your posts I'm sure there will be a few gufaws but no sniggering.

:D That was perfect. Spoken like a true post-Proustian. Suzanne, we must now pass him Dottie's gong, and I hope you have the first bust of Proust carved by now. I'm running with hot wax.

I'm chisellin' Cherlize :-)
Hope you saw the post from Cherlize about the readers guide. I did see the review indicated it had a lot of spoilers--be warned.
Ooh Laura, you are leaving me in the dust! I can't look at the readers guide yet because I'm way behind.
You mean these?
Proust's Way A Field Guide to In Search of Lost Time
How Proust Can Change Your Life Not a Novel
I like the top one best, but tread slowly- many spoilers. I buy everything at amazon, usually used, but I like to go through the Goodreads price comparison thing first. Sometimes Alibris or half.com have it cheaper. Happy reading!
I am not sure, the one Ed mentioned above:

Well, I'm only on page 45 because we had an absolutely nutty weekend. I kept falling asleep with the book on my chest. I will try and catch up with you but go ahead and leave comments if you want. xoxo

Oh yes, that's what I was referring to. I have short term memory loss. Duh. :)
I will try to find a French readers guide, lets see if I manage to find one which can be useful (or not). Thank you all to receive two new Proustian in this lovely group.
