Hmmmm.... I didn't see my name listed on the leaderboard tally. It's no big deal really, I've just finished crying into my book, so I think its all out of my system now :)

I wish... I'm reading Salem's Lot by Stephen King right now, and I'm afraid to go out after dark. I was just teasing about my name not being on the leaderboard tally, lol.
um, ok. I reacted like that when I read Dracula the first time. Making it even worse--we were living in Greece at the time, I was babysitting for the Chaplin's kids--and THEY WERE LATE GETTING HOME. At 3:30 I called my parents to see if something had come up and the Chaplain had had to go to hospital because someone had had an accident or something. My parents didn't know anything, so they called the Base back, then sent the SP (Shore Patrol) and the local police out looking for them. At 5 the car was found, with no one in it. At about 7:30, the Chaplain and his wife were finally found--when a local peasant rode his donkey up to the base gate and, after some general yelling and arm waving, a translator reached them to find that someone had syphoned almost all the gas out of their car. Something that they hadn't noticed until it ran out. This was in the middle of nowhere, half way up a mountain. They'd then walked back until they found a dirt trail leading to the home of the peasant--and he'd gotten up, gotten dressed and riden out to find help for them. AFTERWARDS it was really funny. But boy, while it was going on--not so much.
And the reason I asked about the book--I was reading one of the Princess Diaries books (hey, its my right to read books written for teenaged girls if I want) and it was the one where Mia and Michael break up. I was SOBBING my heart out. And I'm still only #2 in the list for the library. :o( So I don't know how things are going to turn out yet.
I've updated the Leadership Board with October's totals but have just noticed September's needs to be added too. Can't keep my eyes open right now so I'll do it tomorrow.
September's totals added to the Leadership Board now. Yz, did you want me to compile the Top 20 Readers list for you?
Mel,
Thanks for updating the Leadership Board. I'm going to go ahead and post the top 20 Readers list, since all I have to do is copy and paste my original post and do the necessary changes.
Once again, great job Mel W.

Congratulations to our top readers!
Yeah, Shazzy. If you and Ann, finished all 9 this month...you guys get the complete score. You didn't miss a single challenge at all
Wow!
(bowing to audience) thank you, thank you. You were such a good audience. lol, I plan on finishing all 9 this month too. And if you do it again NEXT year. . . Well, these challenges give me a little structure for SOME of my reading.
I'm already signed up for a new challenge next year. Its to read 12 books a month--or a total of 144, whichever come first. :o) I've never actually kept track of how many books I've read in a year, so I thought that would be a good way to do it.

Hi Ann,
is that 12 books per month for 2010 a challenge that you found here in goodreads? I'd like to sign up for that one too :)
The challenge Ann mentioned is found here: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/2651...I've also signed up for it - there's no requirement about what to read or listing books ahead of time, just keep track of books read.

Thanks BJ!
yeah, I kind of liked that there was no particular kind. I tend to read all over the board--depending on my mood of the moment. So having no set books to read was nice for me.
Oh--and the person who set up the challenge was kind of "the more the merrier" on membership. So go over and sign up and lets get ready to rock 'n roll. (Besides, gift certificates from bookstores just make WONDERFUL Christmas presents to receive, don't they?)
Yz, i'm addicted to these challenges! I love reading and it's fun to find books to fit the challenges.
I agree, I love these challenges!! I love goodreads in general! I wish I knew about it sooner. I made a bookshelf to keep a running tally of my books read in 2010. I stopped couting this year at 138 new books. I re-read almost everything so I do not count those.
