Er, you read the sequel first? That's too bad. It's one of those that is best read in order. I would forgo the first book in that case. At least you have the next books to look forward to though, right? :D

I already read the second one. I'm already seeing that was the better one. Thought since i read the second i should read the first with a orange cover.

2647629 I've finished A Frient at Midnight by Caroline B. Cooney and started Coraline by Neil Gaiman. I am also listening to an audio of Frostbitten by Kelley Armstrong.

message 75: by Shannon (new)

2016128 Finished up Speak of the Devil (Morgan Kingsley, #4) and now I'm reading Rosemary and Rue (October Daye, #1) which I like a lot so far.

message 74: by ♥Tricia♥, Group Lead (new)

1869154 I have to admit, even though I purchased all of my monthly reads I am totally stuck on the Rachel Moran series.

I cant stop reading them. I keep thinking *I have others to read this month* but nope... I am so into that series that I cant stop! LOL

message 73: by Shannon (new)

2016128 Joelle wrote: "Shannon how are you finding speak of the devil "

Kind of boring actually. And the sames things seem to happen in every book; Morgan gets in trouble and has to ask for Adam's help reluctantly, she gets mad at Adam because he tells her she needs protection and she doesn't want it, then Bryan finds out something she didn't want him to know and they end up fighting because she keeps too many secrets from him. So ... it's kind of blah. 100 pages in and nothing's happened. I'm kind of disappointed and I really hope it picks up at some point.

I actually haven't read a lot of yaoi lately but there is some really good stuff out there. A couple series I liked were Jazz, Yellow, and anything by either Youka Nitta or Ayano Yamane, especially the Embracing Love and Finder Series. Fumi Yoshinaga's stuff is good too but be forewarned, a lot of her series feature tons of non-consensual sex.

message 70: by Cindi (new)

1940550 I just finished C. E. Murphy's Heart Of Stoneand LOVED the heroine, Grit! She laughs! I'm currently starting Huntress and the first story is by Christine Warren and has witches in it. I am thinking I may be able to get several of my Oct. book challenges done in this one anthology :D if that's not illegal . . .

I didn't like her other story, King of Debt. Yaoi can be really hit or miss.

message 67: by Kenjii, Co-Lead (new)

1125077 NU the story has the familiar leading a double life tone of a lot of MxM romances. But other than that I am not getting the whole fight for freedom/free the king bit.

message 66: by new_user (new)

1365355 Yeah, I wouldn't expect those to be very exciting, but they can be romantic story-wise.

message 65: by Kenjii, Co-Lead (new)

1125077 I started yaoi manga Red v Sanae Rokuya. It is WEIRD reading right to left and having to follow the panes in a specific order or else your reading the story wrong. I like the illustrations but the story is not doing it for me. I'd read more manga though.

message 64: by Carla (new)

1831701 I am currently reading The Harlequin by LKH
I've read several books this month so far and all of them have been pretty good.

message 63: by Shannon (new)

2016128 Starting Speak of the Devil (Morgan Kingsley, #4) today and I'm really hoping for some sexy m/m parts with Adam and Dominic. I'd wish for some m/m/f but Morgan isn't any fun.

message 62: by Joelle (new)

1625281 I am reading Demon Forged by Meljean Brook Demon Forged (The Guardians, #8) and I just got a pre release of Deep kiss of Winter by Gena Showalter and Kresley Cole A Deep Kiss of Winter (Includes Immortals After Dark, #8; Alien Huntress, #5) from a friend oddly enough I am not a great fan of any of these writers. Also going to start Succubus Blues
by Richelle Mead today.
Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1)

message 61: by Tiffany (new)

1373937 You ladies are reading some really good books! :) I am almost done with On the Edge and will be starting Covet after that.

message 60: by Paula (new)

1125077 Finished THE MAN WITHIN and started KISS OF HEAT in the Breeds series by Lora Leigh. I am liking the series so far. Also read a bit more in STORM BORN v Richelle Mead and I do find the UF setting interesting and the world creation engaging to read.

Storm Born (Dark Swan, #1)Kiss of Heat (Breed Series, #4)

2597213 I just finished Desire Unchained Demonica book 2 and I read some bad reviews about this series. Some people saying that the author is making fun of Christians and just that the books are bad. Well I am a Christian and it didn't bother me at all. Come on people the series is called " The DEMONica" so there ya go. Don't pick up books about demons if you are sensitive about things like that. I took more offence to the BOM-Angels Blood then the demonica series. You know evil angels having sex. Yeah not my style.

Kiss of the demon king by Kresley Cole. and
The last two books form the Mercy Thompson series.
I'm starting the last two books from the Anita Blake series
Blood Nior and Skin Trade (fingers crossed I hope these are better then the last few)

message 57: by Lu (new)

2049296 Finished Blood Promise (Was Brilliant). Reading Anne of Green Gables now.

I'm so jealous. I have it on order at the library because I refuse to buy hard cavers anymore. I can't wait till it comes in.

message 55: by Shannon (new)

2016128 I started The Everafter the other day and it's so different from anything I've ever read. It was a bit tough to get into at first but now I'm really intrigued.

message 54: by Paula (new)

2647629 I finished Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I liked it. Wish Gaiman had written about Tristan's and Star's adventures. I have started The Graveyard Book by the same author.

Putting up the books we own for BOM sounds like a great idea. My TBR pile has gotten so large that I need some extra incentive to read some of them.

message 53: by Kenjii, Co-Lead (new)

1125077 I like reading books as a group and sometimes buy. I have 95% romance and perhaps a 1/3 of that is PNR [sprinkled w/ UF:]. So I know that I won't have to buy every BOM that if I put up books I own we will get around to them. Now, with Buddy reads, yikes! LOL. I will have even more of a chance to chat with yall about my faves =P.

message 52: by Jennifer (new)

2412926 I agree with everyone else. I always try to give the BOM a chance. I haven't been reading pnr for long, and the BOM gives me a look at authors that I didn't even know existed before. So for that alone, I think I'll probably keep at it. ;)

message 51: by DarkHeart (new)

1847538 Okay, today I'm starting On the Edge to carry around with me and Hemovore for the laptop. Finished my latest audiobook as well so will either be continue the Werecat series with Pride or start BDB again Dark Lover. ;)

message 50: by Katt (new)

2684965 That is why I joined the group. Wanted to read books and discuss so love buying the BOM. Reading and reviewing and hearing other peoples opinions is fun too.

message 49: by new_user (new)

1365355 I usually read BOM if it's a book I'm already interested in. :)

message 48: by Joelle (last edited Oct 09, 2009 10:01AM) (new)

1625281 since I have joined I have bought all the books of the month mostly just to read it with the group. I don't even have to like how it sounds because I am a true book addict....I just like to have them!

message 47: by ♥Tricia♥, Group Lead (new)

1869154 Yes. If the book looks interesting enough I get it and read it, even if the book was not on my TBR list.

It's actually one of the ways I have found new authors to love :D

message 46: by Kenjii, Co-Lead (new)

1125077 Do yall buy the BOM if:
a) you don't have it but want to read it with the group.
b) never heard of the book/author but think it sounds good and want to read with the group?

A bit off topic but just curious.

I am liking the BREEDS series so far with The Man Within. Not totally blown away but I like the concept of the mating heat. LL's male characters are always a bit cave-manish to me but I like reading her books anyhow. For a quickie.

message 45: by Carla (new)

1831701 Just finished Dead Perfect by Amanda Ashley. It was good. Reminded me of a cross between Interview with the Vampire (just some of the dialog used) and Twilight with more sex (not by much, mind you).
This may have been the tamest romance novel that I have ever read. Of course, I've been reading a lot of LKH lately (nope, it's still not too much sex for me).
I'm torn regarding my next read. It will either be Queene of Light by Jennifer Armintrout or Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. Maybe The Harlequin by LKH...to hard to decide!

message 44: by Joelle (new)

1625281 Just finished What a dragon should know by G A Aiken What A Dragon Should Know (Dragon Kin, #3) now I am starting Friday night bites by Chloe Neill Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2)

message 43: by Jennifer (new)

2412926 Lu, Storm Born was awesome! Can't wait to read the second in the series.

Right now I've moved on to the BOM The Scent of Shadows The First Sign of the Zodiac Lovin' it so far :)

message 42: by Amanda (new)

1641736 Shannon you have my interest piqued when you said Soulless is like the Gardella series. Loved that series (even though I still have yet to read the final one). Hadn't heard of Soulless before. Must check out at my next opportunity.

message 41: by Kenjii, Co-Lead (new)

1125077 I am CR read 3 books [that I will swap:]. I fave being The Man Within v Lora Leigh . I just want to read LL's books from cover to cover, but I can't risk the eye strain. LOL. I am LOVING the Breeds and will def. want to buy the rest of the series.
