They do it all the time with Dr Seuss books and such. They'll add some back story with his mom and they'll get in a fight and he'll act out and that will take half the movie and then they'll spend a lot of time on the island with the monsters and then they'll have a good wrap up with him and the mom after the island.
Maurice Sendak's classic book comes to the big screen in an adventure tale for every generation. "Where the Wild Things Are" follows the adventure of Max (Max Records), a mischievous young boy who is sent to his room after rebelling against his mother (Catherine Keener). Max's imagination is free to roam, and it soon transports him to a thriving forest bordering a vast sea. Delighted, he sets sail for the land of the Wild Things, where mischief reigns and Max rules. In bringing this imaginative fantasy to life, Jonze leads a team of filmmakers incorporating the most dynamic elements of voice performance, live-action puppetry and computer animation. [D-Man2010:]Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy feels misunderstood at home and escapes to where the Wild Things are. He lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions. The Wild Things desperately long for a leader to guide them, just as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create a place where everyone will be happy. Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships there prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.
Visionary director Spike Jonze brings Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book to the big screen with the help of hipster icon Dave Eggers, who teamed with Jonze to pen the adapted screenplay. A mixture of real actors, computer animation, and live puppeteering, Where the Wild Things Are follows the adventures of a young boy named Max (Max Records) as he enters the world of the Wild Things, a race of strange and enormous creatures who gradually turn the young boy into their king.
"Where the Wild Things Are" follows the adventures of Max, a head-strong young boy who leaves home after having a fight with his mother -- only to find himself in a mysterious forest bordering a vast sea. Misunderstood and rebellious, Max sets sail to the land of the Wild Things, where mischief reigns.
I personally think that it looks really stupid. The book is SO short so they had to add a lot of stuff to make it 2 hours. I hate it when they do that.
well dont you like the cat and the hat they made that a long movie (right i mean i think they did)and i LOVED hortan hears a who (the movie and the book) that was so good
This one's just strange. The book's about a toddler's vision of scary monsters, which are kind of cute. The movie is about a 10-year-old's monster who have the kid's anger and social issues. Visually it's great, but the storyline misses the magic by a long shot. I wouldn't recommend it.
aww i sry! im 14 so i can go! but my mom was tht way to up until...well now still haha! im goin newayz. do u like the books?
I haven't read them yet either! I'm 10 so my mom wants to read them first to make sure they're appropiate for me.
oh it makes sense my mom jus let my sis read twilight. shes ur age. she wants her to wait a year for the next one and so on...but i think my sis read new moon haha cuz i couldn't find it on my shelf like amonth ago and its back now
I loved Where the Wild Things Are When I was a kid!!!! I really want to see the movie soooo... yeah. I'l probably just rent it on whe it hits on dvd.
UGH!!!! I can't wait until New Moon!!! Suprisingly my little town is getting a midnight showing so I definately can't wait. I am kind of sick that these books have gotten sooooo blown up since the movies, I'm happy for Stephanie still. But my friends and I read them in like '06 and we were the only people who knew about them, that I knew of. Now a buch a stupid preppy people think they are the best and I hate it!!!!
So that's my thought on the matter, lol, I just had my own little rant, not like me to do that... hmm.
Well, most people think it does. Twilight I haven't read, and I've heard that it's good. I sorta wanna read it. The other half of me doesn't want to let go of HP.
unbelievably good. i read a lot and thought it would be the same cuz everyone who was raving about it doesn't read a lot, then i read and freaked it was soo good! i like both, but twilight more cuz i like tht its based majorly on romance
I don't like the Twilight books anymore they are so old. I haven't seen Twilight and I don't want to. I don't want to see New Moon becuase they have totatlly ruiend the series with the movies. I know a better book.....It is called Hush Hush. It kinda has the same story line as twilight were a girl falls in love with a fallen angel and how it is a forbidden love. I think it is pretty good. You can get it on amazon for like 12.00 bucks so it isn't that bad. Here is a website for more information.... www.hushhushbooks.com. or you can go to www.beccafitzpatrick.com and that tells you about hush hush, becca fitzpatrick, and the sequal that is comming out next year I think. so I am almost done with it and I loved it. I hate twilight now becuase hush hush is way better. READ IT I AM TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW TO READ IT BECAUSE IT IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't let the Twilight books and Hp books compete in my mind they are both great, and besides there is no proof that either series is better than the other.
I may read Hush Hush, but it seems like it will be the Twilight-craze all over again kind of.
Anyways I don't know why people say that the movies ruined the books, how could they if you liked the books to begin with, wouldn't you like them after... I didn't believe the movie was a -great- portrail, but I liked it and I still love the books. I decided that the books and movies are to different things so that is why I love 'em both.
