2032621 The Serpent Prince is 1 of my top 10 all-time favs =)~

message 70: by Julie (Mom2lnb) (new)

883725 I recently finished The Serpent Prince too Linds, although I'm the opposite in thinking that it was the best of the trilogy by a nose.;-)

message 69: by Linds (last edited 22 days ago, 08:44PM) (new)

2039534 The just read The Serpent Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt. I thought it was a good read but I think The Raven Prince by her is her best work.

Brandy - I'm going through the Bridgerton series right now too. I really liked An Offer from a Gentleman. Benedict and Sophie have supporting roles in To Sir Philip with Love (The 5th book in the series) so it was nice to catch up with them and see how they are doing :)

To Sir Philip with Love was a good read but I think The Duke and I and An Offer from a Gentleman are the best in the series (so far, I've only read up through book #5)

1570669 You're not a dummy. It could happen to anyone. As for her first book, I love the exotic adventure romances, so I hope it is good.

message 67: by Char (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 Well, dummy me, no wonder I couldn't find anything else by her--I was spelling her name "Althea" instead of "Anthea" (lol). Thanks for that Danielle--her first book looks pretty good, too.

1570669 Hey Char. She's a new author for me. I picked up her book from Walmart last week but haven't read it yet. I think she has another book that came out a few years ago. Here it is: Passionate. I have this one in the you know where as well. :)

message 65: by Char (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 Danielle: Have you read anything by this author (Althea Lawson) before? I happened to see this book listed on another author's website. Can't find anything else by Lawson so this might be her first?

1570669 I picked that one up, too, Char. It sounds good.

I forgot to post that I finished Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas last week. Great book.

message 63: by Char (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 All He Desires by Althea Lawson is a book I'm looking at to read. It comes out in the next several days (cen't remember exact release date) but it's Victorian era.

1570669 Mary Balogh is definitely an author I enjoy.

message 61: by Terri (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 I only go for the romance it keeps me going Mary balogh is good too the slightly series

1570669 It's just my multiple reading personality. I love romance, my first love, but I also love scary books too. :)

message 59: by Alexis (new)

2201558 Hi Danielle,
I am glad you enjoyed Dracula. I admire you for reading different genres all the time! I know I need to "branch" out a little more. Take care!

1570669 Hi Terri. I read the first two in the Boscastle series. I need to keep reading them. I love Jillian Hunter's books. Sexy heroes. :)

Linds, Then Came You is one of my all time favorite LK books.

Brandy I haven't read Offer From a Gentleman yet.

Everyone, I just finished Dracula by Bram Stoker. It was awesome to finally read this book. I'm a big vampire fan.

message 57: by BrandyS (new)

1987133 i just finished "Offer from a Genleman" An Offer From a Gentleman (Bridgertons, #3)
It was such a good book. I loved it and the end was fantastic

message 56: by Terri (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 Hi guys did anyone read Jillian Hunters Boscastle series I am on the 4th one and they are a good read a little wit the boscastles men are sexy rogues some scandal sex to but not to graphic, just fun stories their is 9 altogether I need to get the last in the series. let me know if anyone read one.

message 55: by Linds (new)

2039534 I just finished Then Came You by Lisa Kleypas. It was good! It had a really good heroine which isn't always the case. LK (hardly) ever lets me down :)

1570669 I haven't read When He Was Wicked yet or Miranda Cheever. I have those in the tbr pile though. I am pretty behind on my historical reading because I feel into the PNR realm. I love them to death. I'm getting back into reading historicals lately.

message 53: by Alexis (new)

2201558 I love Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series too! I took a break after Penelope and Colin's book, but I am anxious to start it again...I have Eloise's story next. Juila Quinn is one of my favorites and she has a fun writing style.

I haven't read any other Julia Quinn's so I don't know her usual writing style. I like the dark romances too!

message 51: by new_user (new)

1365355 Quinn writes dark? I had no idea, LOL. I would have never guessed from the title either. The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever, LOL. I should read those.

message 50: by K. (new)

2592043 Danielle, did you ever read Quinn's "When He was Wicked" (which is part of the Bridgerton series)? It's a fairly dark read. If not, you may want to read that one. I'm pretty sure you've read "The Secret Diaries of Miss. Miranda Cheever," if I remember correctly? Not a personal favorite for me, but another pretty dark read for Quinn. As you know . . . I've read everything she's wirtten (except Cavendish - but, I hear I've "read" that one . . . via The Lost Duke . . .! LOL!). I own it, so I'll probably get to it at some point . . . maybe in that retirement period! :D

That's good to hear, Linds. I've enjoyed the Quinns I've read, but I admit I like the darker romances more.

I will try to find it when I get home. I think I have it shelved with some other unread Needham books at home. I don't have a very good system for my bookshelves right now.

I hope you enjoy her other books, too.

I have many years before retirement (with late start on career with school, etc), so my writing/reading endeavors have to be squeezed into my free time, but I won't complain too much.

Oh you should! I don't know how it stacks up against other Julia Quinn books because it's the only one I've read by her (I'm definitely going to continue with the series.) I liked it because the hero was emotionally damaged without being aggressive or excessively emotional about it. I liked it more than I thought I would.

message 46: by K. (new)

2592043 Thanks Danielle!! I put those on my wish list, and I'm looking forward to seeing if she's a consistent author for me! I hope so! I think you will enjoy "The Wedding Night." I've OFTEN thought of how I can just read/review romances for a living as well. Since I've spent the last 7 years in my own business, setting up and managing other people's businesses, you can imagine!! Well . . . it won't be "now" for me (as I'm turning my clients/business over to my DIL and pursuing a government rehire job for a benefit for my retirement. But that's just 2-1/2 years. Then . . . who knows?! I may come up with something! LOL! I'm sure I'll let you know if that happens. In the meantime, I'll be reading more of Needham's backlist -- and you DEFINITELY need to get to "The Wedding Night." It's a jewel just awaiting your attention in your vast TBR! :)

1570669 I really loved Ever His Bride by Linda Needham, and I liked the other two books I read by her: The Maiden Bride and Her Secret Guardian. I like enjoy her writing. I'm glad you enjoyed The Wedding Night. That one is in my tbr pile. I have read quite a few books, but not all the ones I want to. If only I could read books for a living. LOL.

message 44: by K. (new)

2592043 I just finished Linda Needham's "The Wedding Night," and although it has absolutely nothing to do with "The Wedding Night" (no idea why it has that title - LOL!), it's one of the best historicals I've ever read. A 5*! I don't know why I've never heard anyone bring up this author before! I know Danielle's read her, but . . . she's read everything! LOL! And Danielle - I don't remember you bringing her name up before either. Was I just not paying attention, and not recognizing the name . . . skipped right over her?! Sure hope it's not a "one hit wonder" problem! This one's a goody! :)
K.

1570669 Hi Linds. This book has been in my tbr pile for years. I keep meaning to pull it off the pile.

message 42: by Linds (new)

2039534 I finished the Duke and I by Julia Quinn last week and just loved it. The hero used to have a bad stutter and was misjudged as a kid for being stupid. The heroine was a more layered than usual. Read it, it's good!

1570669 I finished Be Mine Tonight by Kathryn Smith. It was really great. Made me cry like crazy!

1570669 Same here, Julie.

I love that one Danielle. I borrowed it from the library about a year ago, and then wanted a copy to keep. I've found some for sale online, but I'm very picky about quality and even the ones that aren't in great condition are going for very high prices. Needless to say, I have not yet found one that met my standards that I could afford.:-(

1570669 I will give it a try.

Nophoto-f-25x33 yes that one collins i am going to start it mary said it was one of the books for oct. hope you join us

1570669 You mean the story by Wilkie Collins? No I haven't read that one, but it's on my list.

message 35: by Terri (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 yes that is very hard to get Danielle I don't know why? let me know if you find one. Did you read the woman in white?

1570669 I've been trying to get a copy of Always to Remember for years now.

I would like to hear what you think of Heath's book Terri. I always like her, but I only read the first one of the Devil series, because I've been focusing more on her backlist than her new releases.

Fani, Bound By Your Touch wasn't the one with the naive heroine, was it?"

No, that was A Notorious Love. But unfortunately I ended up disliking both heroines anyway:( Admitedly though, Bound By Your Touch was a much better book than ANL.

883725 You're right Danielle. I'm not really in the right frame of mind to tackle a book that's frustrating me right now. I'm not the type to leave a book unfinished, but maybe a day or two away from it is what I need right now. I've been wanting to finish up the Twilight Movie Companion before New Moon comes out and I've been working on a free read at e-Harlequin that was pretty good too. Then I have a PNR novella I've been eyeing that I think I'll try. Mixing it up is definitely sounding appealing.:-)

1570669 Julie I think it's probably a good idea to put it down for now. I've had to do that and gone back and enjoyed a book on the second try. And I'm sure you have some stuff on your mind. Try to read something that is totally different.

I'm glad you are enjoying Some Like It Wicked, Ally.

Terri I am a big fan of both Heath and Hunter. I hope you enjoy Surrender to the Devil.

883725 I've been reading The Indiscretion by Judith Ivory, and I'm really struggling with the author's writing style and how slow the plot and character development is moving. I had recently been thinking about how I'd been really lucky not to have had a book that rated below three stars yet this year, but this one is well on it's way if it doesn't get better. In fact, I've been thinking of setting it aside to finish up a couple of other books I've been working on. Never a good sign.:-(

1570669 I'm liking it a lot so far. Kathryn has a gothic feel in this book that makes me think of Dracula, although she does her own thing with the theme.

That's too bad, Fani. I hope THT is better for you too. A genre switch usually helps. I'm reading two books at the same time (well more):

Be Mine Tonight This is a victorian vampire story.

The Hand-Me-Down Family

Elric The Stealer of Souls
