Very pleased. I just finished Uglies yesterday, and I'm still hold number 92 for Catching Fire at the Library. So I wanted to have a discussion I could participate in. :)
We'll have a very quick vote off - see the polls - as you see I've included the option to read all three if people wish.Poll will remain up to midnight UK time.
Either way, I'm reading Catching Fire. I can't seem to make myself be interested in reading Uglies. *shrugs*
Hey there is a tie in caterogy 2 you can still change your vote and help determine the outcome
REALLY REALLY want Uglies to win LOL

God, I love that book.
"
Now I want to check it out. I had never heard of this one, definitly on my list to buy.
I voted for coraline, though I should probably watch the movie before I read the book, so I won't tell everyone around me how wrong it is...
They should make it into a movie, maybe not with children and definitely not with Zac Efron. Maybe with the actor who did Anakin in Star Wars. Cool?
yay! Misty!!
I just read the back cover of A Certain Slant of Light, it's kind of a spooky and supernatural romance in English class!

LOL it looks like a runaway for Cat 1,
but come on change those votes for Cat 2, I REALLY want second place book LOL
I just voted...for cat 2 A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb and for cat 1 Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins.

Haha... That's why I asked!
and remember if you vote and you book isnt one of the ones fighting to win first place you can always change your vote right up until the poll closes : )
and there is a tight race right now in Cat 2.

Midnight, we only get one nomination, so you'll have to choose. Maybe you can nominate one of them next month instead.
For the Halloween nominations, I would like to add The Devouring by Simon Holt and although it is not technically related to Halloween, it is a good horror story. For the other book I would like to nominate As You Wish by Jackson Pierce.

I just finished reading theis book! Very enjoyable.
I have read Halloween Party, I don't think it is YA. Unless all of Christie's murder mysteries are, because its much of a muchness with the others. Fun though.

That one does look good. If only my TBR would get smaller!
I actually just recommended Coraline as a horror book to someone in the group. So I agree.I nominate A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb for Cat 2.
It's a ghost story, but not scary, so really it could work for either.
Oh and I shall nominate... Elidor by Alan Garner for cat 1... I read it way back when I was a kiddywink and would love to read it it again
angelasunshine wrote: "Cat 2How about Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie? I know she probably falls in the gray area of adult/young adult, but the girl in the story is 13..."
Hrrrm just because the a character in the story is 13 doesn't make it YA, but I haven't read the book - anyone else want a say?
DragonEyedMovingCastle Maniac wrote: "Well, what about Coraline by Neil Gaiman? That's kinda a horror book, even if it isn't Halloween. Tell me if that won't work."
I think that sounds spooky, anyone agree or disagree?
BunWat wrote: "Category 2: The Owl Service. I think it fits. Its YA, its about possession and ghosts and myths so it seems like a Halloween kind of story even if it isn't usually categorized as hor..."
I already know who the author is BunWat but for next time please remember to include it. ;)
