Only ONE nomination per person.
If you nominate a book for catagory 1, you CANNOT nominate a book for catagory 2, and visa versa.

Please be sure to post the title, author, and the catagory it belongs to.

If your post does not have those three things, it will not be counted.

Having never read Rebecca, I have to ask... Does it qualify as scary, is it a good fit for halloween themed? The blurb doesnt really suggest it...

I'd describe it as creepy and Gothic.

I think when I checked the "scary" shelf....it was on there.

I haven't read it yet either, one of the reasons I suggested it so I might finally get around to it.. Well, it's been catagorized as a gothic novel in alot of the places I've looked around, even here on GR... along with Radcliffe, Bram Stoker, Walpole, Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, Stevenson, Poe, etc... If Gothic counts as Halloween, which I assume it would, then I would say yes, but it's up to you to decide.

Also B&N said this about the novel Rebecca: "First published in 1938, this classic gothic novel is such a compelling read that it won the Anthony Award for Best Novel of the Century."

Several parts have a good "creepy" feel to them but not what I think of as "Halloween scary."

I just read this book a few months ago. I agree w/ Dan - several parts are "creepy" but it's not like S.King kind of scarey. It's more unsettling than scarey; it gave me the chills a few times but I didn't turn on all the lights in the house.

I should add, for what it's worth, I thought the book was fabulous!
