2716551 The plot might have been common but Lermontov's description of Pechorin through his actions was something new for that time. I'll need to look into his poetry if you say it's actually better than Pushkin.

1691953 I read this about ten years ago. I enjoyed it, though can't give you specifics--my memory is not what it once was. I love Lermontov as a poet--better than Pushkin--and he does a decent job as a novelist. I think the story was unremarkable, but the language he used was beautiful. I'm sure it is overlooked because of its rather common plot--an adventure romance that was all too common at the time.

2716551 I noticed that in the description the creator mentioned famous authors but missed out on Mikhail Lermontov. Has anyone read "A Hero of Our Time"? and what did you all think. I personally find it a brilliant novel which should be studied in universities and is much under-rated.
