1448151 Glad you liked it. I know I mentioned it earlier but The Dark is my favorite Herbert novel.

822432 I just finished "The Dark" a few days ago, and I enjoyed it very much. Loved the atmospherics and the tension. I bought "The Fog", and I"m going to start reading that one today.

1448151 Good to know, Paul. I have 'Sleath' but haven't read it yet.

2457455 Lol i will be sure to avoid Magic Cottage then!

1853928 His best so far is IMO 'The Ghosts of Sleath'. Ghosts haunting ghosts?

Not a spoiler, from the blurb on the back cover.

I'd second 'Sepulchre' as another. The worst one I've read is 'Magic Cottage'.

But, hell, everyone's allowed an off day now and then...

2457455 Cool! Thanks for the suggestions.

1448151 The Dark is my fav. Second would be Sepulchre. The Spear was pretty good and so was The Fog. The one I am reading now is called Once... It is very good, kind of like an adult (very adult) fairy tale...

2457455 I saw he has written quite a few! Which would you say is the best?

1448151 Cool...glad you liked it. I'd recommend any of his novels (there are probably half dozen I haven't read yet, though). He's very good.

2457455 I finished this book at the weekend. I enjoyed it quite a lot.

1448151 Me too, Tressa. I actually had to purge my massive used book collection and I think my old copy of The Dark got purged (why? hell I dunno...it was pretty ratty looking)...but I may have to dig another copy up from the various used bookstores around the area and read it again. I am reading a somewhat recent novel called Once... by Herbert and it is pretty good so far!

226335 I used to own a lot of Herbert books, but they got tossed out during several moves and house cleanings.

message 4: by Paul (new)

1853928 I'm actually looking for it now. I know it's in the house somewhere, 'cos I've had it for 20 years.

226335 My library doesn't even have this book. It would take me weeks to get it through ILL.

1719920 I will have to check this one out.

226335 William was going to be the discussion leader for the September group reads, but is busy with the real world at this time. He sends his apologies. Hopefully he'll be able to join in at some point. I'll take over as the unofficial leader and would love it if everyone else would join in with questions, suggestions, and comments.
