Krista, thank you for clearing that up for me. Coming up with an assignment won't be too hard and I will go back and read for other assignments that have been posted.

Hi Kari: I think the intent of the homework assignment was for you to devise a homework assignment for OTHER folks to do based on your reading of the book. You'd be the teacher, we'd have to 'do' the assignment. (See the Completed Task thread for some homework examples.)

My reading of the task isn't that you have to do any other homework, just create the assignment and post it on the 'Completed Tasks' thread when posting points for the book.

1450288 i'll be reading welsh's If You Liked School, You'll Love Work. i'm a welsh junkie (no pun intended) and i'm getting to the end of his catalog, which is rather depressing.

katie, i'll be curious to see how you like Fierce Invalids....i think robbins is fabulous, though i wasn't in love with this one. jitterbug perfume is his best, imho.

2692029 I was thinking of doing this book The Way Toys Work The Science Behind the Magic 8 Ball, Etch A Sketch, Boomerang, and More for this challenge. I was going to go visit the Inventor's Museum here in Akron, but it's closed until 2010 :(

So I thought of watching some episodes of "How It's Made" instead for the homework assignment. Was wondering how many episodes to watch or if that would be good enough for the "assignment?" (I already have another book in mind for the Science Fiction/Science challenge since this could almost work for that one too).

155288 Standing for Something: 10 Neglected Virtues That Will Heal Our Hearts and Homes by Gordon B. Hinckley

And in case you're curious, according to the table of contents, the 10 virtues are: Love, Honesty, Morality, Civility, Learning, Forgiveness & Mercy (apparently these are "twin" virtues), Thrift & Industry (also twins?), Gratitude, Optimism, and Faith.

1310564 I'm trying to read primarily books I own, but nothing I have fits this one so I have a little bit of freedom with it.

So something else may catch my fancy between now and when I actually get around to completing this task, but I tentatively have The Journey Home by Dermot Bolger slated for it.

Some of the reviews say it's depressing. So if I'm in the mood for a depressing book at the time, I'll probably read it. If I'm not, I'll hunt harder for something else.

I know. Jule approved The Chronicles of Narnia as Christian fiction and I chose The Last Battle to finish my audio re-"read" of the Narnia books.

Another one I thought about using was Home A Memoir of My Early Years by Julie Andrews Edwards.
