1968285 Have you ever seen those signs posted at Borders and Barnes and Noble...if you like that, try this. Well I just found a website that does the same thing. You enter the book you like and it recommends other books of similar interest.

279845 I'm working on At Grave's End by Jeaniene Frost, and will probably start Covet by JR Ward when I finish it.

2459823 I'm in the middle of Squeeze Play by Kate Angell. It moved kind of slow at the beginning. It is starting to pick up a little, though.

message 86: by Photojim (new)

2640658 Just finished an old Blaze book, Sex & the Single Girl by Joanne Rock. Review posted, but I'd pass on this one.

1504904 I LOVE McKinley and The Blue Sword, in my humble opinion, is one of her best!

message 84: by Shazzy (new)

1034664 The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley, it's pretty good!

1704330 I'm sitting here, at work, reading 'The Defender' by Carla Summers, which is a Harlequin Mills & Boon Blaze novel about attorneys. Part of a series, only the other two books feature a cop and a PI - which seem, I dunno, kinda sexier than an attorney but then I don't think I know any attorneys so what do I know *shrugs* Thought I could have a Men in Uniform theme for my October Romance newsletter. Was thinking of Detective Studmuffin from the Reichs' series.

882302 Yea I know, I thought I'd have them for the weekend, but no such luck.

message 81: by tosca (new)

1704330 Wow - that's...that's SLOW! So much for their 1-3 days ;)

message 80: by LibraryLass (new)

882302 Tosca, books arrived this morning. Thanks heaps.

message 79: by Lauren (new)

790403 started Kiss of the demon king

message 78: by tosca (new)

1704330 Hey, anytime you wanna listen to my suggestions I'm all for it ;) Hope the book arrived in the post ok! My fav in the whole series is book 2 - while I'm a commitment phobe I'm wholly partial to Vaughan and definitely wouldn't mind him for myself :)

message 77: by LibraryLass (new)

882302 Have just finished Slave to Sensation. Wow!!! Thanks heaps Tosca for the e-book. Am really looking forward to reading the rest in the series. Yum, yum, yum.

1704330 Just finished reading His Housekeeper Bride by Melissa James and was bawling my eyes out right from the start. Story starts when characters are 15 and 17, she's constantly at the hospital for a mother who's dying of cancer and he's there, for his best friend/wife who's terminal as well. What're the odds - this month marks the six month anniversary of a friend's death to cancer so the hormones are all over the place. Had a happy ending, though, as Harlequin Mills & Boon do, but wow was crying all the way through it. She's keeping a 15 yr promise to his late teen-wife and he's become the Heart of Ice and they end up together. Prob not helped by the glass of wine (or two or three) I took to numb the toothache sheesh

1704330 Thanks Yz & BriansGirl - it's great to be back!

Have finished reading: Sweet Trouble by Susan Mallery and Under Her Skin by the same author. Good, solid characters. Thought the male lead in Sweet Trouble was a total knob, took me a while to warm up to him, but when I did it was worth it. Under her skin is book 1 in the Lone Star Sisters series (yeah, I have a Texas/cowboy fetish heh)

1895628 Finally picked up Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder.

I discovered on the author's website some free short stories. Two of the stories available (synopsis below) relate to her Study trilogy. For those of you who liked the trilogy and couldn't get enough...

http://www.mariavsnyder.com/shortstories...

POWER STUDY is about Ari and Janco as they deal with a Sandseed Magician and a cocky young soldier.

ASSASSIN STUDY is an online serial story about the trouble Valek is involved in while Yelena is in Sitia.

434780 Finished Damsel Under Stress A Novel, 3rd book in Shanna Swendson's Katie Chandler series. It continued Katie's adventures while working at MSI, and her burgeoning romance with powerful wizard Owen. Cutesy as usual, although I'm slightly disappointed with the ending. I will definitely get the fourth book to see how this series ends.

1895628 Welcome back Tosca.

message 71: by Photojim (new)

2640658 Just finished Coyote's Mate by Lora Leigh. Meh. Review will be up shortly.

message 70: by Yz (new)

434780 Welcome back, tosca. We missed you!

message 68: by tosca (new)

1704330 Well now there then! Our new library website is live - the reason for my absence - which means I now have more selfish time to read :) Am reading anything and everything as a means of de-stressing, although am enjoying Lip Service by Susan Mallery at the moment. If all y'all get time, swing by our website and check out our Romance newsletter, our Top 5 lists (esp: Top 5 books men will probably never read; Books with bite; Paranormal romance series and Tearjerker tales) and our reviews section, too. We also have the first part of a four-part interview with Nalini Singh posted for viewing :) And this website is the reason Danielle and I have been absent for the last 3 months or so. We're both tired but I'm very much looking forward to getting back into the challenges!

message 67: by Shazzy (new)

1034664 On the Edge by Ilona Andrews, I couldn't wait until Thursday to read it! I'm locking myself away for the day to finish it! :)

message 66: by Kasia, Tender Barbarian (new)

1504904 Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. I want to finish the challege this month, dammit.

Did you enjoy it? I bought the whole series from a used bookstore and it is sitting on my bookshelf right now.

2755471 Finishing up the Anne Stuart's Ice series.

message 61: by Yz (new)

434780 I was in the mood for something very light, so I picked up and finished Suz Brockmann's Body Language last night. Just what I need to help me over my reading funk.

message 60: by Photojim (new)

2640658 Just finished The Love Slave by Bertrice Small. Of course thoughts are posted.

message 54: by Julie (Mom2lnb) (new)

883725 I just started The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt yesterday. I've heard a lot of good things about this series, and so far, it's off to a good start.

message 53: by BJ Rose (new)

2030200 Just started reading When Calls the Heart for the September Romance Challenge and the Fall Challenge, and am listening to Empire of Ivory for the Fall Challenge and Read-the-Month

message 52: by Kasia, Tender Barbarian (new)

1504904 Haha! Seems like anything is possible.

Hard to say what it's going to be like. I like it so far, but you start out knowing the narrator is crazy and lies. Where do you go from there?!?

message 50: by Julie (Mom2lnb) (new)

883725 I've been working on The Baby Album by Roz Denny Fox. It's a cute, quick read that I'll probably finish tonight.

message 49: by Bekah (last edited Sep 17, 2009 10:27AM) (new)

2640231 I'm reading Blue-Eyed Devil - I stayed up until 4:30 last night reading it, because I was stupid enough to start it before bed. Of course being a Kleypas book, I could not put it down. I really really REEEAALLLLLY hope Hardy redeems himself and turns out to be as dreamy as Gage. REALLY HOPE! Soon, I will be starting Naked in Death decided to give it a try.

message 48: by BJ Rose (new)

2030200 Currently reading Paradise Valley (book 7 in Virgin River series) and listening to Empire of Ivory (book 4 in Temeraire series)

message 47: by Kasia, Tender Barbarian (new)

1504904 The Lace Reader? It's on my TBR, yet I haven't heard that much about it. I'm going to be interested with what you have to say, once you're done with it.

Me? I'm finishing Half of a Yellow Sun - turned out to be something totally different than I expected. It's an excellent book but tough to read. Think adultery, think war, think starvation, genocide. Yeah. I'll probably end up giving it 5 start, but boy, am I glad I'm almost done!

message 46: by Sarah (new)

279845 I'm feeling the need for something different, so I'm reading The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry. I've heard it had a "Sixth Sense"-like twist at the end.

message 45: by Kasia, Tender Barbarian (new)

1504904 Aw! That book is touching sure. I still grieve after Rudy. Damn Zusak.

Same here...the last disc made me cry that when I got home, hubby asked what's wrong with my eyes.

Wow! I think the most holds I've had at one time is 5 - right now it's 3, and 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' and 'Girl Who Played with Fire' are two of them. 1st one is the 3rd hold of 5 copies, so I should be getting that soon, but GWPwF is the 6th hold of one copy (one copy in the whole large system?!)

434780 Finished Zusak's The Book Thief last night, after listening to it in small segments for almost a whole month. Yes, my travel time had dramatically been lessened and my audiobook addiction is getting cramped.

All, I can say, is that this is a beautiful book.

1829974 Halfway through Tooth and Claw. It's sitting on my nightstand, but I'm distracted by re-reading other favorites. Just finished Rosemary and Rue An October Daye Novel, which was written by a friend of a friend, and which I thoroughly enjoyed. Also just finished Destined for an Early Grave, which I definitely liked more than the previous book in the series.

I have I, Lucifer Finally, the Other Side of the Story on hold at the library, and Thorn Queen is in transit.

The limit on holds at my library is 20, and I frequently hit that limit with my requests! Other books that I've requested recently include:
Hunting Ground
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Must Love Hellhounds
Darkness Calls
...among many others.
