Book Selection for November (and December too!)

Ok, we have a couple more months left to select a couple more books for 2008, and then we're on to a whole new year with Monthly Themes! We'll finalize those themes at the next meetup. We have one more round of voting for November, and

1. The Flying Troutmans
2. The Book of Negroes
3. The White Tiger
4. A Raven in My Heart Reflections of a Bookseller
Once again, don't vote for December books here; you will keep your choice a secret and let us know which book you chose at the meetup!
Right now we are voting for a book in November, and these four books were nominated:

1. Saturday
2. Vanishing Acts
3. The World Without Us
4. The Broom of the System
Happy reading!
Huh?? Is that really what we decided to do with Dec? I thought we were having a regular meeting where we vote and all read the same book from a list of popular, yet unsuccessful, choices from the past months? Can someone else who attended the last meeting please confirm what was decided and whether or not I'm going senile. Thx!
I thought that is what was decided by general consensus at the last meeting. Do we want to meet in person on December 30th? Should we all read the same book in December?I like the idea of leaving the book choice open, if we are in fact, not going to meet in December. If we aren't going to meet, voting I think becomes unnecessary.
However, if someone has lots of Christmas leftovers, and would like to host a Christmas party, feel free to make the suggestion!!
ps: as for my November book selection, I must say, these titles all sound rather foreboding, eerie, and surreal!I'm going to pick 3. The World Without Us, as I recall this CBC Quirks and Quarks radio interview with the author. Spooky good!

I thought we were having a meeting, but not picking an actual book. I think it'd be nice to meet up for an Post Xmas drink/book talk, perhaps for that night we could go somewhere fancier than the Pantry, like maybe the Orange Room??

This will also give Andrea a chance to order the stuffed mushrooms and the seafood crepe! :D

. . . And I totally support the Orange Room as a destination. I really like that place.
Great venue suggestion! Megan, if we're not voting, can you let me know (by the end of Nov) which book you're going to read. I won't be 'showing and telling' but I'd love to have a discussion about the book I read. Cheers!
yah!!!! Orange Room it is. :D
hmm....should we tell what book we are reading or not?
As for November's book, I will vote for: The World Without Us. Sounds really interesting!
Barb, Megan, I feel the same way. It would be nice to read the same book so that we can discuss it. So, I will join you in reading the book of your choice which, I think, might be "The Flying Troutmans." Am I right?
For November, I choose "The World Without Us."
Yes, I'm going to be reading The Flying Troutmans for the December book, I think Barb is as well, right Barb?
Yes, after speaking to Megan offline, I've decided to read The Flying Troutmans for Dec. I do, however, own White Tiger and The Book of Negroes and plan to read them both eventually.
For the Nov selection, I'd also like to vote for The World Without Us. I'm already a few chapters into it and have found it interesting right from page 1.
Thanks, Megan and Barb. I will join you in "The Flying Troutmans." Now, there's something you don't hear every day.
It does appear that The World Without Us has won the title for the month of November hands down! And once again, for December, you may pick a book without voting! (though you can see some folks have alluded to their December picks here :)
