This was the second Tess Monaghan book I've read. I really like the sarcastic Baltimore private eye. The current plot put her on the production lot of a t.v. series being filmed in Baltimore. The pop references to movies and literature, and the local color of Baltimore, which is in my backyard, are fun to read about. I liked the plot. It was inspired by a case Lippman researched in her days as a reporter for the Sun. Interestingly, Lippman is married to a producer of the HBO series, The Wire, which was filmed in Baltimore. I can't wait to go back and start the beginning of this series.
I'm a fan of her other books, so it's not going to stop me from reading #11 whenever it comes out. This was just too diluted for me with all the movie-making business.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear it wasn't as good as the others. I've only read the 9th book in the series, which I discovered at the Goodwill, along with this one. I normally don't read a series out of order, but since I hadn't read anything by her, I decided to give it a go and see if I liked the series. No Good Deeds A Tess Monaghan Novel hooked me with all the local stuff. The Baltimore setting is only 2 hours from home, then the plot brought them to my hometown of Salisbury, MD and neighboring beach community of Fenwick, DE. I found it to be an entertaining mystery. Hopefully I won't be too disappointed in Another Thing to Fall.
Okay, I've finished it. It's her 10th book in the series and I have to say I like the other 9 better. Too much on movie making and celebrity personalities and not enough on the story itself. I don't find Hollywood or celebrities to be of any interest in my life, so that was pretty much a strike against it from the start.
