630056 Hi all. I've been a Good Reads member for more than a year but have only just discovered this group. Quite maddening really because I'm a Crime fiction nut and these days read it almost exclusively for my leisure reading. I try to read a wide variety of authors and probably have too many favourites to mention any specific names. After many years of neglect and ignorance I'm trying to catch up on local authors which, for me, is Australian crime writers.

1722935 Welcome Bernadette, This is a fairly new group so you haven't been overlooking it for too long.

I'm another life long mystery reader and in the last few years have discovered many international authors including a new favorite, Garry Disher, from Australia.

1724711 Oh no, Donna!! Another author to add to TBR!! (just kidding, really! Bernadette, feel free to give us some more suggestions...)

Hi Bernadette, and welcome. I've been under a literary rock and have been trying to catch up on lots of things... have discovered Iain Pears and Sue Grafton (better late than never!) and can recommend Andrea Camilleri and Tony Hillerman.

630056 Garry Disher is a great Aussie author Donna. As are Leah Giarratano, PD Martin, Kerry Greenwood, Michael Robotham, Adrian Hyland, Peter Temple...I'll stop for now.

Hayes I'm a long time fan of Sue Grafton, a new fan of Iain Pears and have got both of those others you mentioned on my wishlist. With a TBR pile of over 100 books though it'll be a while until I get to them.

1724711 I know what you mean... my TBR is irresponsibly long!

1722935 Hi Hayes and Bernadette, If you really want to explode your TBR pile here are the links to 2 publishers who are bringing out some very interesting titles.

SoHo Press http://www.sohopress.com/crime.html
and
Bitter Lemon Press http://www.bitterlemonpress.com/

I have found most of the new authors I'm reading from either of these publishers.

1724711 I checked those links out the other day. They are both really interesting. Thanks!

630056 Gee thanks Donna. I think. Although I really need help in reducing my pile of unread books not increasing it :)
