985335 Okay, I found my first nom:

Nightwalker (Dark Days, #1) Nightwalker by Jocelynn Drake

The first Dark Days Novel

For centuries Mira has been a nightwalker — an unstoppable enforcer for a mysterious organization that manipulates earth - shaking events from the darkest shadows. But elemental mastery over fire sets her apart from others of her night-prowling breed ... and may be all that prevents her doom.

The foe she now faces is human: the vampire hunter called Danaus, who has already destroyed so many undead. For Mira, the time has come to hunt ... or be hunted.

1661554 Our list of nominees is getting so long that I am only going to nominate one book for October 2009:

Covet (Fallen Angels, #1)Covet (Fallen Angels, Book 1) by J.R. Ward (to be released September 29, 2009 in mass market paperback).

". . . it’s all about angels and Harleys and evil and redemption . . ." J.R. Ward

Redemption isn't a word Jim Heron knows much about--his specialty is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charged with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. And failure is not an option.

Vin diPietro long ago sold his soul to his business, and he's good with that--until fate intervenes in the form of a tough-talking, Harley-riding, self-professed savior. But then he meets a woman who will make him question his destiny, his sanity, and his heart--and he has to work with a fallen angel to win her over and redeem his own soul.

1053760 Ok..lol. I'm nominating The Hunger Games One of my favorites.
Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.

It's marketed as YA but it's pretty adult in content.

985335 I can't wait to get my hands on Covet. I've been looking forward to that novel for a while now, LOL!

My second nomination is:

Captive Dreams Captive Dreams by Angela Knight and Diane Whiteside

Double the heat: the queens of super-sexy paranormal romance join forces for a one-of-kind novel.

Celeste and Corinne Carson are more than sisters-they're bestselling writers, each with a fantasy-fulfilling alpha-male hero. For Celeste, it's Jarred, a conqueror from the future. For Corinne, it's the barbarian Mykhayl from a world long ago. Devilishly sensual warriors, Jarred and Mykhayl have something in common themselves-they're both more real than their creators could have imagined. Fearing that the sisters are about to write them off, Jarred and Mykhayl decide to exact sweet revenge. The plan? Kidnap Celeste and Corinne, spirit them away to the very worlds of which they wrote, and persuade them to surrender to the sublime punishments of their own uninhibited imaginations.

Edit: I did a little search. I'd never heard of Diane Whiteside, but Angela is one of my fave authors. It turns out that Captive Desires is a sequel to Diane Whiteside's Captive Dreams. Here is what's printed on her website:

Captive Desires, the sequel to “Bound by a Dragon” from Captive Dreams, comes out in November. In it, Alekhsiy, Mykhayl’s younger brother, meets his match in a fanfic author at a huge sci-fi Con here on Earth.

Whoohoo!

985335 Shelby, do you have any information on the paperback of The Hunger Games? I've been waiting for it to come out in MMP but as of yet, Chapters doesn't have any information on it yet.

message 9: by Kathleen (new)

1661554 I am the one who missed that it was only available in hardcover. I checked amazon and saw the price and thought mmp, but I was looking at the Kindle edition. It has been nominated and therefore should be in our poll, but Shelby can renominate it when it comes available in mmp.

985335 Oh, it's no biggie, Kathleen, if Shelby wants to nominate that one. If it wins, I'll see if I can find a used copy. I've tried before, a few months back, and they didn't have any, but who knows? The Book Bin might have a copy now.

So, Shelby, it's up to you!

1053760 OH I just saw this thread. We can wait. It is kinda hard to find and the waiting list at the library is a mile long. No prob. :)

message 12: by Kathleen (new)

1661554 Okay, I leave it off the list of nominees.

message 13: by Amanda (new)

646913 I'll nominate Nightkeepers by Jessica Andersen Nightkeepers (Final Prophecy, Book 1).

The exciting debut of a new paranormal romance series. As a Miami narcotics detective, Leah Daniels never knows how her day will turn out. But she certainly never expected to be strapped to a stone altar, the human sacrifice in an ancient Mayan ritual meant to coax up a demon from the underworld. Or that she'd be saved by a handsome warrior-priest king who claims to recognize her from his visions...

Jaguar Strike wishes he hadn't made the mistake of reuniting his fellow warrior priests, or broken the law by saving their chosen human sacrifice. Now, he has no choice but to join forces with Leah and invoke dangerous magic in a death-defying race against the end of time.
