1825270 I'm with you Ulrike - I always carry a book to read, a pen to write with and a book to write in. Recently was reading on the train and hurried off the train, leaving my bag behind. Fortunately, the bag with book, pen and my notes handed in at Lost and Found. Unfortunately the purse and iPod had disappeared. Have made a note in my writing book that I must pay more attention to travel and less attention to reading and writing on trains!

Nophoto-u-25x33 Where do I read? You have to be kiddin'...anywhere I can...I just about "always" carry a book with me...you can depend on seeing me with either a book or a pen and paper in hand or both! Most people think I am crazy...my family has got use to me but for me it's just life...you know like breathing.

message 80: by Natalie (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 I usually read at home , but sometimes go to a coffeehouse too .

1166992 I read anywhere and everywhere! I always carry a book with me, just in case :) My favorite places to read though are curled up in bed or downstairs on the couch with a blanket and some hot cocoa (during the winter) or outside underneath our big tree (during the summer). I can read anywhere and with any noise level, so as long as I have a book, I'm good to go!

1516048 I read wherever I can. I carry a book with me everywhere and pull it out during any down time I get. Usually I read in the morning before work, on my lunch break & on the train ride to work (although I've been driving a lot lately so that cuts out a lot of my reading time). I also keep an e-book on my computer at work to read whenever I don't have any work to do (but don't tell my boss!). I annoy my roommates by reading during commercials when we watch tv too. If I'm not at a good stopping point I make them pause it (thank goodness for dvr) until I'm done.

1647193 Rainy days are THE BEST for curling up in a comfy chair or in bed with a warm quilt. Love it! I read while in line waiting for the kids to get out of school, while my son is in dance class, after the kids are in bed, I listen to books on my iPod while exercising, cleaning house, or sewing/crocheting. I love to read in my comfy chair on Friday nights while my hubby is playing WoW or also reading. I was the annoying kid on campus in college who would walk to classes with her nose stuck in a book and would read until the very second the professor started talking! LOL.

2832291 I carry a book in my purse at all times so that whenever there is a spare minute I can get some reading done. I find I buy so many books I can't keep up with them so I have to try to read as much as possible. I read mostly on my lunch hours but also in the car, coffee shops, in the bath, in bed...rainy days curled up on the couch with a great book and some coffee are the best! Coffee and books seem to go together perfectly :)

1942141 I always have a book with me. I read while I wait for the kids, read at lunch, always read before bed, if I wake up in the middle of the night. I don't really have a favorite place to read, just as long as I have a book.

2512662 Now that I have my BlackBerry with Mobipocket on it there is not a place I do not read (except for the bathroom... there was a mishap with drawing a bath for myself... :o!) I do have hardcopies that I can read in the bath, but I prefer my blackberry... I read on the bus, I will read in line at the grocery store if it is busy and I have to wait, I will have my nose in my blackberry pretty much anytime that I am not a) at a social function, b) Out with Byron, C) at work or driving and d) in the bathroom.... lol, I'll have my nose pressed into my blackberry while waiting for the ATM, ect... it's BAD!

message 73: by Jamie (new)

1518370 I read just about anywhere. I always have a book or two in my purse. I also am a big reader during tv shows..especially when my boyfriend is watching football games or something. I like sports but I prefer to read and watch the games.

At home, in the winter, I tend to read on this really comfy chair in front of my fireplace. In the spring/summer, I prefer to read outside on our patio.

message 72: by Margaret (new)

2479060 I always take a book in my car and read while I'm waiting for my kids to get out of school at pick-up time. And while my husband's driivng and at the dr's office and places like that.

If I'm into a book, I'll read it nonstop. Very very dangerous.

message 71: by Sarah (new)

1976057 Holli - I read while watching TV too!

I love to multi-task, so I read pretty much anywhere and everywhere.I read while I'm eating, waiting for appointments, in between classes, blowdrying and straight-ironing my hair, waiting for the kids at the bus stop, and on my couch while I'm sitting next to my hubby watching TV. In fact, I'm so used to reading while I'm doing something else, that I don't like to just sit and read. It feels like I should be doing something. I also listen to audio books while I'm driving in the car.

Nophoto-f-25x33 I read everywhere. I always have at least one book with me, usually two or three because I never know what I am in the mood for. I do a lot of reading in front of the TV. But I have to sit in my car while kids play sports etc, so I do a lot of reading like that. I just got a Sony Pocket Ereader for my birthday.....can't say how much I LOVE it. Slips in my (small) purse and multiple books on hand!!!!

When I used to work, I always read during lunch. Sometimes, the mornings would be crazy because I would be scrambling to find a book and if I could not before I ate lunch I would have to run to the bookstore (used). I would never go out for lunch with the girls, but would rather sit in my car and read.

1087795 I read in bed and on the subway. I'm to distracted by my pets to read anywhere else.

message 68: by Carrie (new)

905116 I reallllly need to get an iPod.

message 67: by Lisa (new)

1866026 My fav spot is a corner of the sofa in my family room. I love to read in bed but once I get there my brain starts to tell me it's time to get to sleep so I never get as much reading done there.

message 66: by Stephanie (new)

758088 It seems like I read anywhere. I always have a book with me and now that I have an iTouch, I pretty much whip out a book, physical or otherwise, whenever I have a bit of time: waiting in line at the post office, in a cafe, waiting in line for a flu shot, in the car as it warms up in the morning, as well as in bed or on the couch.

message 65: by Wendy (new)

2131243 I read mostly in the bathtub these days, after I put my 20 month old to bed I settle in for a nice soak and a good read before I go to bed for the night. I also have a corner of the couch reserved for reading, it's comfortable and the light is good :)

message 64: by Kate (last edited Nov 17, 2009 07:32AM) (new)

1296744 I love reading by (or in!) a body of water: by a lake, in the tub, by the ocean...

I also love "reading" books on tape on my iPod while taking long walks.

message 63: by Lekeshua (new)

Nophoto-u-25x33 I do most of my reading in bed because it's the only place I can escape and my son and husband and they can have bonding time. I am hoping when the fence is completed in my backyard and someone buys me a hammock I will do some reading out there while the kids are playing. I also read at work during my lunch. On select occasions I read while the TV is on when my son is napping on Sundays.I am looking forward to maternity leave in three weeks so that I can love on my new addition and read all day. If only I could do that for a living.

I read while watching TV too!!! I used to love commuting on the train, I got so much reading done! (Can't read in a car, I get horribly ill).

message 61: by Milka (new)

1982249 My favorite places to read are this really comfy chair in my room, other chair in our family room and during the summer the patio. I take a book with me everywhere I go so I read in a bus, car, school, cafe shop... :)

message 60: by Kaliki (new)

2630720 Red lights only! I love it that you clarified that. Doesn't it stink when the red light's too short!

message 59: by Carrie (new)

905116 I read anywhere and everywhere!
Some of my favorite spots include the bathtub, the couch, the front porch, my parent's house, my childhood bedroom, my bed, the car (red lights only), work.

message 58: by Sadie (new)

2913589 I always have a book with me and read anywhere and everywhere. On the subway on my way to work, waiting for a friend, in bed at night, on my front stoop. But my favorite place to read is on my sofa under the huge two windows in the living room of my apartment on a lazy Saturday or Sunday. Nothing beats it.

message 57: by Cindy (new)

365038 Kelly, Starbucks sounds fun!

I also have a book with me all the time. I read on my lunch hour at work, while waiting at appointments, etc. I guess my favorite place to read is in bed or in the comfy chair in the family room (if I can get Jeff out of it!)

message 56: by Kelly (new)

2486657 I carry at least one book with me wherever I go because you never know when you are going to have a few moments to read or get stuck waiting somewhere. On Sunday's I love going to Starbucks and curling up in one of their comfy chairs with my latte and a good book for a few hours.

2911606 I read just about everywhere I can. I like reading on the road (Im obviously the passenger,) I also like to read on my couch late at night, the house is quiet and nothing disturbs me.

1757509 the couch, the bed, in the summer at the beach, on the train (when i randomly take it)...anywhere i can!

message 50: by Sydney (new)

743203 Thank goodness two other people mentioned reading in the "loo." I was beginning to feel like a freak. It's the only room in the house where I can get complete peace and quiet!

message 49: by Beth (new)

688928 Like everyone else, I read just about everywhere. My favorite places to read are outside on my patio and at the pool (when the weather is nice) and at night in bed. My husband usually does the driving so I get to read in the car. When I was younger it used to make me sick but now I only feel sick if I try to read in the backseat.

message 48: by Uhura (new)

2641905 My favorite place to read is in the family room at sunrise in the chair by the window. I kick up my feet on the ottoman and surrender to the moment. The house is quiet and the early morning light is perfect. Otherwise, I take a book along whereever I go!

Mandy, I carry a book w/me around the house too!

1769862 I always, always, always carry a book with me. It's a bit hard when I'm reading something enormous, like Anna Karenina, but I make it work. I really like reading before class, but that goes by the wayside when other people show up. And I always stop work by 9:00 so I can read for an hour before bed.

message 44: by AJ (new)

2810793 Do you guys get hand cramps and neck cramps sometimes from reading? I'm a chronic acher apparently.

Love my kindle which is not heavy to hold and which I read as reclined as possible on the couch or when at home, in my big stuffy chair in the quiet front room. I love traveling with the Kindle and I like to hold the actual book in my hands when I'm home.

message 43: by Terri (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 I like to read at night so I read on my bed but the best place I love to read is in the sun or on a float in the pool????

Ah yes...sitting in the loo! At my house I call it "going to the library".

message 41: by Mandy Sue (new)

1410084 I literally carry a book everywhere I go. (Even in the house) Every time I have a free minute I will pick it up and read. I love reading on my love seat and outside but I will read anywhere I can get a moments peace.

message 40: by Halee (new)

834245 I missed this thread!

I spend a lot of time in doctor's office waiting rooms (due to my health) so I always have a book with me for those times. (I always have a book in my purse regardless).

At home: I read at the kitchen/dining table. On the front porch & in the back yard. On the couch & in bed. Down at the marina sitting on a bench at my favorite spot (where I also journal).

At our weekend place: I read in bed, sitting at the breakfast nook and in the yard.

If we're away, any comfy place I can get!

Even when we're sitting out by the fire here at home or at the weekend place, I've got a book and my book light!

If we're out for breakfast and Hubby's reading the paper (sometimes the places here have a copy for patrons to read) I'll pull out my book and read too.

message 38: by Heather (new)

1786844 Flopped across the bed with an old quilt on a dreary day...second best? In a hot bath until the water is cold and I can't lay there another minute. I haven't dropped one yet! I also love sitting with my oldest son, in the living room in side-by-side comfy chairs. I love it when I can read a book, beginning to end, in one day...most likely in all of my favorite places!

message 37: by Katie (new)

1283225 I carry a book with me wherever I go and read whenever I have the chance to squeeze in a few pages.

Most often, I read while sitting on the couch in the evenings, in the kitchen while cooking, on the front porch on weekend mornings, beside the fountain outside my office on my lunch hour and in the doctor's office while waiting for prenatal appointments.

732045 Emily wrote: "My favorite is reading at the beach! Right now the only reading time I get is while I am nursing my little one, and I usually read aloud to my baby until I get a sore throat. Is that silly?" My babies all had Time magazine read to them while nursing. It was the only time I had to read during those early months. I always joked that they would grow up to be politicians. That hasn't worked out yet, but 2 out of the 3 are voracious readers. Enjoy your moments with your precious baby!
