The bodyguard series should be read in order because characters from earlier books appear in later books. But you must read Bodyguard, #3 BEFORE Bodyguard, #6; the events that happen in #6 are because of events in #3.The author spun off the Bodyguard and created Black's Ops. There are overlapping characters and the last book in the Bodyguard sets up the first in the Black's Ops series and has a brief mention of the rest of the E.D.E.N family in the ending.

Black's Ops spins right off the Bodyguard series and, imo, this should be #7 of the bodyguard NOT a new series.

I finished reading TO THE EDGE and it was pretty good. Are the other books along the same lines Kathrynn? Do they have to be read in order? I'm thinking about picking up a few more.
I'll just butt in here East--yes & yes! If you liked the first one, you'll like the others, too! My favorite was actually the third one, I think it's Ethan's story (the oldest brother). Loved 'em all--sory to see the series ended! :(
Thanks Auntee! Looks like I'll be paying another visit to Amazon ;)
What makes me hesitant to buy them all is the narration. I hate endless pages of narration. I need it to be broken up with dialog.
You guys are making me curious about this series. I've read a bunch of her Silhouette Desire books, but none of her full-length novels. I'll have to keep an eye out for them.
I love this series! I don't recall the long bouts of narration, though. I hope she reconsiders and writes more in this series. Wonder what she's working on now? Guess I'll pop over to her site and report back. :-)
Okay, Auntee, spill! What Cindy Gerard book did you get early from Barnes and Noble?
I didn't realize she had one coming out soon. I've been looking for Marliss Melton's new one to appear on a shelf anytime.
Lucky girl! ;-)
Kathrynn,
It's "Show No Mercy", the first one in her Black Ops series. I think it comes out this week, but I picked it up online from B&N last week. Sometimes they have them available early before the stores get them, and this was one of those times. They also have the new BDB compendium, or whatever you call it. I ordered it yesterday and I don't think it will be in the stores until Oct. 7th.:)
What is the BDB compendium?
I popped over to Barnes and Noble's Site and saw that the release date for "Show No Mercy" is this Tuesday.
Her Site had the series as "Black's Ops." I thought that was odd??? I'm guessing she is not the "webmistress" of her site. :-)
Glad to see it all fixed and I changed the books on Goodreads to match the correction.
We have several coming out in the next few months: Allison Brennan's Playing Dead (Prison Break Trilogy, #3), Cherry Adair's "Night Fall" and "Night Secrets" (T-FLAC), Marliss Melton's "Too Far Gone" (SEAL Team 12), and Cindy Gerard's "Take No Prisoner's (Black Ops, #2)...
Wonder what happened to "Mercury's War" by Lora Leigh? It got moved back to October 7, 2008.
And, Kresley Cole will have several in her Immortals After Dark (IAD) coming out in the next few months.
Going to be a busy time keeping up with it all. But, I'm looking forward to the new books.
#:-)
Does anyone know...If the novella in the "Rescue Me" anthology by Gerard is part of her Bodyguards series (I think that's what the series is called...but it might be something else...)? I know Adair's novella is from TFLAC, and Leigh's is from Tempting SEALS...so I wondered if Gerard's fit anywhere.
I've read Leigh's novella in that book, but I'm holding off on Adair's until I can read it with the rest of the TFLAC books...wanted to know if I should do the same with Gerard's.
Kathrynn, The BDB compendium is described as an insider's guide to the BDB. Among other things like deleted scenes, the brother's dossiers, and interviews with the brothers, there's also a short story about Z and Bella. Also there's a sneak peak of the next BDB story, "Lover Avenged". Hopefully it will be worth the price.:)
Bodyguard Series:1. To the Edge
2. To the Limit
3. To the Brink
4. Over the Line
5. Under the Wire
6. Into the Dark
Black Ops Series: (spin off from Bodyguard series)
1. Show No Mercy
2. Take No Prisoners
3. Whisper No Lies
I'm reading Show No Mercy now and I'd been waiting for Jenna's & Gabe's book ever since I saw those sparks these 2 generated in the previous book. When I first read CG's bodyguard books, I though they were just meh...dropped them then decided to give the series another try. I read the one about the heroine Sweet Baby Jane and it was just okay. Then I tried the one with the hero and older heroine and found it icky because of the huge age gap even though the book was rather good. Then, finally, Dallas' & Amy's story which I had been waiting ages for because they were the only 2 characters that stuck out. I enjoyed their book very much though Jenna and Gabe had ursurped the main protagonists' place in my head and heart.
The series doesn't have to be read in order except for the ones Kathryn mentioned and Show No Mercy definitely should be read AFTER Into the Dark.
I'm reading "Show No Mercy" also. I've enjoyed all the books in this series, so far. But, I believe the series should be read in order because characters appear in later books with updates as the series (bodyguard) progresses.
News alert! Picked up "Take No Prisoners" (Black Ops, #2) today at WallyWorld! I know what I'm going to read NEXT. ;-)
Question! Okay, so the Black Ops series is a spin-off of the Bodyguards? Should the Bodyguards be read first? Or does it not matter? I finally have all of the Bodyguard ones (1 was eluding me), and have all the Black Ops. Was planning on doing the Black Ops first since I'm trying to catch up on new releases, but if they're connected, I'll have to reshuffle things and start working my way through the backlog.
So...should all these be read in order? (ie one series, then the other)
Hey Isis, Should read the Bodyguard series first because the last book in series sets up Black's Ops.
Ditto that Isis, read the Bodyguards first. You'll like them, it's a good series.
I loved the 3rd one, "To the Brink".:)
I love the Heros in these books. They are so protective and in love with the heroine from the first to the end-no matter what
I'm reading "Whisper No Lies" and it is very good. Picks up with two characters first introduced in "Take No Prisoners" so be sure to read in order.
Just read To the Edge and To the Limit from CG's Bodyguard series...I'm impressed! Ordered a bunch of her other titles from this series from the library, so excited! BUT the one I want to read the most, about Ethan and Darcy wasn't available, wahhhh! Might have to purchase that one.The first book I read by CG was Take No Prisoners about Sam and Abbie....I thought it was okay...but now that I'm into the Bodyguard series, I really like her!
Thanks again for the recco, Auntee!
I really need to get to this series sometime soon. It's been gathering dust on my bookshelf for ages.

Not unless it's Risk No Secrets, which is a possibility...
Finished Into the Dark, really liked it but I thought the whole ODESSA NAzi grandpa story was murky...I just wanted to get to Dallas/Amy's relationship already! Nice to meet Gabe (hubba-hubba) and Jenna here too...have to hunt down their book next!
Amar, "Into the Dark" finishes her bodyguard series. Next she started the "Black Ops series. Here's the order (just in case): :-)Bodyguard: (E.D.E.N. Family)

It didn't start off as fast moving as "Whisper No Lies", but it's starting to take off now for me..
My first book was To The Edge, which I have finished a couple of weeks ago. It took me over a month to finish, because I was busy.
I so dislike the drug cartel plot.... Enjoying Stephanie and Joe! It did start slow. Still, not a lot in the romance department, yet and I'm 3/4 into it. Where are you?
Arch, life can get in the way of reading....

Apparently not as far as you, Kathrynn. What happened to B.J. and Rafe--aren't they the main couple? I haven't gotten to where Stephanie has hooked up with anyone yet.
O crap I've done it again I'm hooked to another series well two. I am completly sucked in,Thanks to a friend from a different group,Stinkerbell Aka UM,lol. I dont know Ive really come enjoyed these series so far.I normally read just PN romance, but since Lora Leigh's OPS I've really come to like the suspencful romance and exspecially of Cindys Bodyguards.
