They did a better job in New Moon- although Esme is more what I picture her as in Twilight, and Edward's pic there looked more vampire-ish.
I found New Moon fabulous...
Twilight had that icy theme to it ..which was required
New Moon had the warmth ... Chris did everything he could .. loved the movie..!!
Chris got the feel of the novel perfectly. Therefore the film looked better directed, etc. Overall, I liked New Moon better for the interesting visuals (Bella's depressive state when she's in the chair, sitting at the Cullen's table.) So far I think both directors have worked fine for starting off these films.
I don't think Chris is a "better" director than Catherine, I'd just say they have different methods. It's like comparing apples and oranges, really.
Her style works great with indy dramas (anyone who's seen Thirteen can see that), but it just didn't fit in with the gothic romance that is Twilight. And Chris better works to create a grand vision of a larger scale. Which is why it worked so well with New Moon.
But no, I wouldn't say either of them beat each other out in overall quality. It's just that their tastes were different, in my opinion.
I think new moon's director was much better at getting the visuals right. I thought the first one needed a lot of work. I loved new moon and the tint was much much better. New moon's director provided the image we all got in our heads while reading the book.
I like both movies very much, including their artistic approaches. Each one is suited to its emotional focus, imo. The diamond effect was solved in New Moon, which removes the only cringe-worthy thing in Twilight.
Minor detail, Esme looks more glamorized in New Moon, which means she looks less motherly. That makes it harder for her to put her character across.
Not-so-minor detail -- Rosalie's new wig makes her look much, much older. Now I would believe her as a bar-hopper, not as the girl whose beauty gives all other girls inferiority complexes.

I think New Moon got it better. The visual effects and cgi is WAY better. The first movie was terrible because of Catherine Hartwicke.
i think that the change in hair style for alice between twilight and new moon is quite big because the twilight hair style suited her but meh thats just hair style other than that yeah new moon ones look better tho its weird seeing someone eles play victoria as you get so use to seeing a movie with one person and then it changes and they dont really try to cover it up
New Moon was much better than Twilight. Bella definitely looks more grown up in New Moon. I would really like to see Chris Weitz to direct Breaking Dawn, he did such an incredible job in making New Moon.
NEW MOON WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN TWILIGHT!!!!! STILL LOVE TWILIGHT BUT I LOVE NEW MOON MORE! OME OME IT WAS PHENOMANAL!!!!!!!!!!! EEEKK!!!
holy cow! new moon comes out in 4 days! have you guys seen the new trailer? here is a link to it! i hope it works!

Jasper is supposed to be a little creepy and scarier then all of the Cullens. He's been through, and done, some horrific things.
Yeah, totally. At first, when they first cast her for Twilight, I wasn't so sure, but she was a really good Esme. :D
I think out of the newer make up, Laurent, Victoria, Alice, Edward, and Jacob, had better make up this time around.
I don't think it did either but these characters and more sexy and mysterious and stuff I liked the Twilight makeup but I like the New Moon makeup more
Yeah, but the Cullens aren't supposed to look vampire-like. They are supposed to be glamourous and have movie star-like looks, they're even supposed to be slightly angelic. If only they had just used lighter, toned-down make up. 'Tis all I ask. :/
Plus, they could keep the nomads in the dark make-up. Then the contrast between the Cullens and the Nomads/Volturi could be immense.
ya ADD SORRYkay so I think the director that did New Moon did them the most justice because they look more natural and vampire like
Okay. That's off topic. Which director did the appearences of the characters justice. *cough*Hardwicke*cough*
That's what I wear most of the time because I'm so pale and my eye lids have this odd purple tint so if I'm in the mood I put on a little gray eyeshadow and go through out my day being told I resemble a vampire
I think the tints are off or something, because his eyes aren't brown/black either. It may be easier for them to work on effects with neutral yellows, I guess.
