1637878 I sent invites to everyone...or at least, GR let me pretend I did ;) hehe.

Me too :)
I actually don't know if I would have picked up A Girl with a Pearl Earring on my own but started it last night (I know I'm early, couldn't help it!) and so far, it's really good!

1396160 I like when I get a reminder and ACTUALLY SEE IT to vote for group reads, but if everyone else is anything like me, I miss them, sometimes until it's too late! It's exciting to vote, but often, I'm excited when I miss it, because then I'm not disapointed my choice didn't win. Plus, it helps me broaden my, occasionally narrow, horizons.

message 85: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 Probably not!

message 84: by Jennifer (new)

2429330 Whatever you think is great. I'm still managing to find my way around this site and get lost sometimes :)

Just wondering if I missed it somehow

message 83: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 Well... Uhh, I'm not sure. Allison did the first round of invites, and I would imagine that she sent one to everyone! And then when I added the dates, I sent invites to everyone who hadn't already voted. :)

If you think it would work better, we can do a broadcast message, or both. *shrug*

Did you invite everyone in the group? I don't think I got an invite which is fine cause I wasn't really on the site over the weekend so probably wouldn't have had a chance to vote anyway. Just wondering how the invites work in case I missed it?

No need for apologizes. Like JG said, we're a bunch of stragglers.. how long could you wait? I'm happy with the winner anyway. I haven't read that one yet and am picking it up today?

message 81: by JG (new)

48404 No need to apologize! You can't hang around forever waiting on us stragglers!

message 80: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 Sorry! For a while there it looked like we were going to have a multi-tie, so I wanted to make sure that we had enough time to narrow it down if we needed to before the 15th. Turns out we didn't need to, which is how things always go, isn't it? LOL

message 79: by Jennifer (new)

2429330 Aww I didn't vote either over the weekend but this one sounds good. I'll try to pick it up this week.

message 78: by JG (new)

48404 Dang it! I was busy all weekend and didn't get to vote. At least my nom did get some votes. I was afraid it would have 0 and then how would I feel? :-) I hope you ladies enjoy Girl With a Pearl Earring though. I've already read it.

message 77: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 OK... we have a winner! Girl with A Pearl Earring will be our very first group read! YAY! I've already read this one, so I won't be re-reading, but I'll chime in every once in a while. :)

message 76: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 since I plan on reading Push Not the River anyway...I changed my vote to Tea Rose because I LOVED it and I would love being able to talk about it :D

*crosses fingers*

message 75: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 Allison didn't set a date for the poll to end, so I've set it for the 9th. Since we have a 4-way tie at the moment, we may have to do a run-off poll to narrow it down to the winner and I want to make sure we have enough time before the 15th to do that.

I also invited the people who haven't yet voted to vote in the poll as well - so I apologize if you were invited twice, but again I just want to make sure that everyone gets their chance before it ends. :)

I've posted this in the poll comments as well.

message 74: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 *blushes and shuffles feet* Well... :D

message 73: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 Thanks Buh! You're the bestest.

message 72: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 I'll have to wait until payday (the 14th) but I will send them to you, no problem!

message 71: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 of course!

message 70: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 oooooo would you? :D I would really appreciate it!! <3

message 69: by Jon (new)

1828558 i voted (and same as Becky!)

message 68: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

yeah I really want to read it....when I find it I will, group read or not. I've been wanting..."

I could send it to you with the sequel if you want, and then you could send it back when you're done... Like we did with E & BD.

message 67: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 Becky wrote: "Oooh, you voted for Push Not the River, Al! I love that book. Really I do. It's great!"

yeah I really want to read it....when I find it I will, group read or not. I've been wanting to read it for awhile...prolly saw it on your list a long time ago.

message 66: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 excuse me? I sent invites to vote to everyone :P

message 65: by Heather, Poof! I'm a mod. (new)

1412137 Ah heck...I think I'm gonna make it easy on myself and just vote for what I nominated. There, decision made :)

message 64: by Renee (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 I voted for the Marie Antionette one. I have never read anything of her. It was a hard choice on the Josephine one for the same reason

message 63: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 Oooh, you voted for Push Not the River, Al! I love that book. Really I do. It's great!

message 62: by Heather, Poof! I'm a mod. (new)

1412137 What did you end up voting for, Renee?

Glad to hear you enjoyed Pillars and Cleo :)

message 61: by Renee (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 LOL I alread voted it was a tough choice. I do hope the books that don't win get nominated again. I have read both Pillars and Cleo. Both are wonderful.

message 60: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 Al, do you want to let people know that the poll is up, or are we just supposed to follow you around everywhere so we know what you're doing (like posting polls) at all times...?

message 59: by Heather, Poof! I'm a mod. (new)

1412137 I know, Renee! Me too! Right now I'm waffling between Pillars and Cleopatra...

message 58: by Renee (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 OHhh OHHHH I want to read them all!!!!

message 57: by Heather, Poof! I'm a mod. (new)

1412137 Becky wrote: "I didn't really care too much for Water for Elephants. It was OK, but it was definitely just a one-timer for me. I gave the book away, in fact."

Yeah, I didn't care for the whole circus thing. I just couldn't get into it.

message 56: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 UGH! My library doesn't have ANYTHING by C.J. Sansom, let alone the rest of the series. DRAT!

message 55: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 Allison wrote: "...*cries*"

I'm sorry. Those were all lies. You know that I'm hideously disfigured on account of that Jackalope incident.

message 54: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 I feel like I want to change my nom to Dissolution... I found it at the library sale after it almost won the Crime poll, and it just looks so interesting, but I know I'd be craving the rest of the series... and I'm broke... *sigh*

message 53: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 ...*cries*

message 52: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 I'm smarter, and faster, and better looking. And doggone it, people LIKE me!

Sorry... Umm.. maybe it's because of the full moon?

message 51: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 I want to read Memoirs of Cleopatra too but I don't have time for something that long this month...plus, I want to read another by that author first.

message 50: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 I hate it when you do that...why can't I beat you??? WHYYYYYYY???

message 49: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 :D

message 48: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 lol

message 47: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 dang it.

message 46: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 copy cat.

message 45: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 yeah...I wasn't a big fan of Water for Elephants :P

message 44: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 I didn't really care too much for Water for Elephants. It was OK, but it was definitely just a one-timer for me. I gave the book away, in fact.

message 43: by Heather, Poof! I'm a mod. (new)

1412137 Geez, you guys are good...I've only read one and it's the one I nominated - Girl with a Pearl Earring. Oh, and I've read part of Water for Elephants.

message 42: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 wow...I just realized I've read 7 of them! daaaaaang.

message 41: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 Well, I've already read 4 of those... And the only one that I wouldn't have to buy or borrow to read is The Thorn Birds, which just so happens to be a Jon Nom AND a Kandice rec, so I'll be voting for that, I think.

:)

And whoever doesn't vote for it will be evicted!

(Just kidding. But not really. Yeah, really kidding. LOL)

message 40: by Allison, Alli-san (new)

1637878 great :P just change my name to "hired help"

I don't know what to vote for either.

message 39: by Becky, Just Moddin' (new)

1376766 We DID. You.
