Any takers?

747169 From the website of The Political Compass - which is the graphing on which this quiz was based

Most of them are slanted ! Some right-wingers accuse us of a leftward slant. Some left-wingers accuse us of a rightward slant. But it's important to realise that this isn't a survey, and these aren't questions. They're propositions - an altogether different proposition. To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are more moderate. That's how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass.
Some of the propositions are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger buzzwords in the mind of the user, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy.
Incidentally, our test is not another internet personality classification tool. The essence of our site is the model for political analysis. The test is simply a demonstration of it.

Also this thing was originally developed in the UK, so I'm not sure how likely it is that they were biased toward either of the main US political parties.

Right: 0.38, Libertarian: 1.44"

message 136: by Wild for Wilde (new)

2404478 for example, it said news on the radio should be unbiased but what about TV news? they said radio bc the most popular radio shows are rush limbaugh and other republicans.

message 135: by Wild for Wilde (new)

2404478 I think the way that quiz words things makes it a little biased towards one party....

2343573 I think the fact that most of us are going "But! But!" to a lot of these questions proves that we're intelligent. I know that most people who live in my hometown, at the very least, would take a quiz like this out-right, rather than see the complexities in things.

I can't help but think that we are what we read in these cases, and most of us on goodreads might lean more towards distrusting the government because of the books we've read. I mean, what am I really supposed to think when I read statements like "People with a criminal history should not be able to vote"? I don't automatically think something like "so if you kill a person, you can't vote" and then agree/disagree with that, I think, "Well what is considered a "criminal history" and is this likely to prevent a regime change in the future by labeling former revolutionaries as criminals and thus allowing the state to remain stable and corrupt?"

message 104: by BunWat (new)

747169 Maybe its something, you know, absurdist and existential, like

I was hoping that was the take too, because I didn't understand it the way he wrote it.
