1454379 I have done that once, but could do it again, I guess.

171430 If it's individual v. digest, I suggest changing those to digest, saving your preferences, and then going back to that page, setting them back to individual, and saving again.

It's like how in the old days we used to kick the TV. No one knew why that did anything, but sometimes it fixed it. ;)

1454379 Hi Rivka,

I double checked each of the groups and the summary in my settings and all are checked as I want. I do get emails from the 3 digests I get (Librarians, WHat's the Name of the Book and Feedback) but none from groups subscribed as individual emails.

I set up another personality as a test, using a gmail email, and get notifications as expected.

I would just check threads manually, but am on slow dialup which can be difficult, even though GR is the fastest loading site I regularly visit.

message 64: by rivka (new)

171430 Kernos, I see no verification issues for you. Are you sure you are subscribed for notifications from each of your groups? At the bottom of this page you should see a list of all your groups. Each has an option for digest, individually, or none. So it is quite possible that you are receiving for only some of your groups.

message 63: by Arch (new)

1610104 Kernos, check your Goodreads account. I guess your emails are bouncing like mine is. You are going to be told to check your email provider to see why the emails are being bounced.

I find it strange that all the emails from Goodreads share one email, but only the digest is coming to my email address.

I'm not worry about it. I just come on Goodreads to see if anything is new.

message 62: by Kernos (new)

1454379 I set up a new gmail account, whitelisted the GR email address and changed my GR email settings to the new account.

I access the account via POP. I get email via Earthlink or SBC-yahoo, both checked for spam problems.

There is no evidence via my email client or via webmail access that anything is coming from Goodreads, except the Feedback and librarian's digests,

Anything else I can do to get email notifications from groups?

83445 But: as I posted in the questions & suggestions folder message # 26:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3401...

I really miss seeing my librarian # on my profile page. I'd appreciate it if it were put back on. Thanks very much!

Thanks. I don't think this was a deliberate change.

message 60: by Lisa (new)

83445 All caught up for me. Thanks, Otis.

1 update emails are a day behind - catching up now...

message 58: by Lisa (last edited Nov 02, 2009 12:21PM) (new)

83445 Is Goodreads a bit behind with some emails? I haven't gotten a friends update email since 10/31; nothing yesterday or today as of yet.

Also, as I posted in the questions & suggestions folder message # 26:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3401...

I really miss seeing my librarian # on my profile page. I'd appreciate it if it were put back on. Thanks very much!

Ah: JUST got a friend update email that's probably the 11/1 email since the updates are dated 10/31. I would still like my librarian # back on my profile page though! Thanks!

Nophoto-f-25x33 Okay, this is the ONLY comment I've been able to save today. What's happening?

message 56: by Maria (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 Sure, Petra, but that's all right. Meanwhile, Gabi, you're quite talented! And on another note, I'm still having the same trouble Gabi is having and now none of my comments are being saved -- let's see what happens to this one.

I have not been getting them most of the week for threads I follow. I just checked one manually and there were about 6 responses since I made mine today, but no notifications. I double checked my settings and am set for individual emails.

1842007 Thanks Maria,

Well, you can reply, but you have to get out of your emails and go directly to GoodReads. If I do that, a lot of the time I have lost the thread (in my mind) of the conversation and the snappy reply I wanted to make. Not to mention remembering what I was in when I did it.

The Tate! Wow. That would be so good. I have to say that having the internet, lets me see so much source material for my Fab. Fakes. Thats copying the Old Masters for Fabulous Fake Competitions.
There is nothing an artist likes more than a new audience, no that's not right - viewer?
This is what I have done for this years entry.

Hope you like it. It is John Singer Sargent's "Lady Agnew of Lochnaw"

Nophoto-f-25x33 I have the same frustrating issue Gabi Fuller has and I hate it! I've had to delete some interesting comments without responding because I couldn't.

Gaby, I love the Pre-R's too and Alma-Tadema is so darling. Last year I spent all my time in the Tate.

1842007 Hey Otis,
Nice to meet you. I have the same problem as above in that, I get the old subjects' emails, but some new ones have been started by my friends and I didn't get emails at all, and I still haven't.

This may be related to the other problem I am having, which is: when I do receive my emails and I use the "Click here to..." connection to read the comments; if I want to make a comment in reply, there is nowhere to put one. You click on "To make a comment" and I am either "Not logged in" or "am not a member" and it wants me to fill out a new entry form.

I can't see anything in my profile that would account for this. I have re-entered the same email & password in my profile, just in case it needed verification, (How do you know when it does? When this happens again?)

Could you send me an email to see if its fixed? Would you know if it was, before you send it? Help?

Yours gratefully
Gabi Fuller

1341512 Otis - I just stopped getting the group daily digest e-mails within the last day too. I am getting my friend notifications and e-mails on posts I am specifically following.

Also, someone just sent me a Friend Invite and was not provided my Challenge Question. What's up with that?

I checked my Account and all settings are correct.

message 49: by Gail (new)

199326 Hey, Otis, I've been getting friends' updates and some few comments, but I'm not getting my group digests now for a couple of days. I redid my email (that is, I re-entered the same e-mail address) even though it hadn't been kicked. Hope this works out soon.

message 47: by Susanna (new)

1109068 Yay Otis!

message 46: by Lisa (new)

83445 Thanks, Otis. Okay.

message 45: by Arch (new)

1610104 Thanks Otis.

message 44: by Otis, Chief Architect (new)

1 Friend update emails are a day behind right now - catching up slowly. All other emails should be sending regularly.

message 43: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Dratz, me too. Not receiving the friends update e-mail(s), but I appear to be receiving e-mail notifications for comments. :-?

message 42: by Lisa (new)

83445 I've been getting group discussion emails and I think I've been getting all my messages on reviews comments emails, but once again I am not getting my friends' update emails.

I know sometimes the queue simply gets behind, but I've noticed when the emails starts arriving days late, there have been many entire days worth of friends' update emails that I've never received.

I do read all my groups online but miss most of what's on my home page, so I really rely on the friends' update emails to see friends' reviews/books activities. So, I'm posting.

Thanks if these are in the process of being sent or can be sent!

message 41: by Arch (new)

1610104 Emails are coming in slow. It started again for me yesterday.

message 40: by Dina (new)

1918270 Hmm, it seems to be working again... At least, I just received a bunch of (delayed) e-mails from GR. I don't know if there's anything missing, so I can only hope there isn't.

message 39: by Arch (new)

1610104 Yes, GR is having that problem again.

message 38: by Dina (new)

1918270 Uh-oh, it looks like this problem is back. I'm not receiving email notifications from GR again.

message 37: by Arch (new)

1610104 I've just checked my email and I have gotten an email from Goodreads, letting me know that I have gotten an email, but it wasn't the email that Goodreads skipped, but a reply to an email I've sent my contact about 10 minutes ago.

message 36: by Arch (new)

1610104 Today, I've experience what Isis_FG and Lisa were talking about, in regards to Goodreads not sending an email letting me know that I had a message in my inbox.

message 35: by Arch (new)

1610104 Lisa,

Well I hope that Goodreads fix our problems soon.

message 34: by Lisa (new)

83445 Arch, Some are coming ok apparently, some are arriving late, some aren't being sent out at all. There are a whole bunch of issues going on. There's both a GR problem with emails, and your suggestion will also help a certain number of members because that's always been an issue too. Right now though, even if someone's email is valid, they might be missing many of all kinds of their emails, so I was assuming most who were having problems were having the latter one.

message 33: by Arch (new)

1610104 Lisa wrote: "Arch, No, many of us with valid emails are not getting most of our emails. It's a current problem. Some may have the issue you're talking about but most right now are not getting emails because GR ..."

Lisa are you and I talking about the same kind of emails? Isis FG said that she wasn't getting her inbox messages to her regular email. I was letting her know that I had that problem before, like in June.

Now, in regards to getting emails, when someone replies to a topic that you have on a group, then yes, I am not getting my emails regularly either. I am getting them hours later.

message 32: by Lisa (new)

83445 Arch, No, many of us with valid emails are not getting most of our emails. It's a current problem. Some may have the issue you're talking about but most right now are not getting emails because GR isn't sending them out, not because they're bouncing.

message 31: by Arch (new)

1610104 Isis FG, an email must have bounced. Like one did for me and that's why I wasn't able to get my inbox messages.

Go to your account and see if you see an error in your "My account settings" box. It should inform you that a mail has been bounced and tell you want to do to re-verify your account.

Let me know if this worked.

message 30: by Isis FG (new)

946249 There have been several (at least) notifications that I haven't gotten at all either. The only ones I've noticed have been for inbox messages because I can see at the top of the screen when I have one yet never got a message for. I have no idea what comment emails I might never have gotten and therefore missed comments on.

message 29: by Lisa (new)

83445 Otis, In case GR doesn't know: It's more than just getting behind. For weeks I've been missing friends' emails. Even when I got a few that were a week behind, I did not get all of them, and now it's been many days since I've gotten more than just one email.

message 28: by Arch (new)

1610104 Thanks Otis.

message 27: by Lisa (new)

83445 Thanks so much, Otis.

message 26: by rivka (new)

171430 Thanks, Otis!

message 25: by Otis, Chief Architect (new)

1 Sorry - we got behind again :( Working on it now!

message 24: by Inara (new)

32494 Yes, I think I missed many of my friend´s reviews and I rely on my update emails too because I can´t be online all the time.. big sigh! And like you I was missing a few notifications before too, then I got some a week behind and now again - nothing. It´s annoying..hopefully it will fixed soon!

message 23: by Lisa (new)

83445 Inara, the same for me except that I was missing quite a few before then as well. I got a few that were about a week behind but I didn't get all of them.

I rely on the friends updates emails because I miss most of the activity on my home page. (The groups I can always look for unread messages and read them at groups here online.)

I'm not getting all message emails either. I'm not sure where or not I'm getting all emails for messages on reviews, but I'm getting at least some of them.

message 22: by Inara (new)

32494 I got no friends updates since Wednesday, 5th and I really start to miss them...but at least I get the group update emails!

message 21: by Lisa (new)

83445 Otis, I'm really missing my friends updates emails. Can Goodreads tells which ones have not been sent out and send them at some point, or is this not possible? Thanks.

message 20: by Lisa (last edited Aug 07, 2009 08:00AM) (new)

83445 We're all having different experiences, but a lot of us are not getting all of our emails.

Edit: I've been missing most of my friends updates emails and I really care about those. I'm getting at least some of my discussions emails and I care about those too. I'm getting most of my groups emails and those I don't much care about because I keep up with reading messages while online in Goodreads.

message 19: by Molly (last edited Aug 07, 2009 07:49AM) (new)

1341512 I am getting Friend e-mails and Discussions I am following e-mails but NOT the Group Update e-mails - those I haven't seen in several days. I feel so out of touch!!!

message 18: by Susanna (last edited Aug 07, 2009 08:19AM) (new)

2135995 I haven't gotten any emails from GR since Wednesday.

Edit: I got a reply notification email just now on another post. So yay for even that! :)
