1109068 Is anyone else interested in Julie and Julia?

The book was "eh" but I love me some Meryl Streep.

881573 Hello - Just found this group through a friend's post. Misfit, it looks like you've put a lot of thought into the discussions. Looking forward to reading everyone's comments and reviews -

I do want to see (and read) J&J. Loved both the book and movie The Prestige- course how anyone could go wrong with Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale is beyond me :). One of my favorite books is Empire Falls by Richard Russo and thought Paul Newman was terrific in the made-for-TV movie.

2166639 If TV series count then I have to admit that I'm addicted to All Creatures Great and Small. I know it hasn't been around for years, but I've seen every episode at least 3 or 5 times, and even went to Yorkshire so that I could visit the Dales and the various locations for the series. A fabulous holiday!

849475 Susanna,
I saw Julie and Julia and loved it.
It was sweet, tender, and funny, so well done, very worth going to the movie theater for.
Meryl Streep IS Julia Child! She was fabulous!
Did you watch Julia Child on TV in the 70s?

321673 Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World introduced me to Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin novels, which are now among my very favorite books.

1109068 My mother watched it, and I was often in the room - I certainly remember the infamous "dropping the turkey" episode!

422087 Jamie, I had the same experience with the Aubrey-Maturin books - saw the film first, loved it, and had to read all of them (except that I'm saving Blue at the Mizzen because I couldn't bear to have the series end!)

After reading the books, I appreciated what a wonderful job they did with the movie.

321673 Bibliophile, there are rumors of a second movie. I saw an article where Russell Crowe is supposedly considering a script based on The Reversal of the Medal.
