yeah my dog is sorta old but still sh protects me if you drive up in my driveway she will bark at you andgrowl when we had our christms part she reacted horrible
you shouldn't get rid of a dog just because it is old. that would be like getting rid of a family member cuz they are old. you should treat the pets like family
Yes, a puppy is a lifetime commitment. I just had two pass, one was 14 and the other was almost 12. I just rescued another, a female lab mix and decided to keep her because she fit so well with the other 4 dogs I have left. I can't see paying for a puppy when there are so many out there that need homes. Five seems to be my lucky number lol
A dog is a lifetime commitment, like a child. If you can't devote the 13 to 15 years, a normal lifespan for a dog, to loving and caring for a pet, you should not have one. Puppies aren't to be gotten to adore while they are cute, then to be abandoned when they are adults. We had two to die recently, and they were not old dogs. Max had EPI, a pancreas disorder, inherieted from to much linebreeding (common in purebreds) and Telah age 5, died of bloat (the vet should have caught it). We are very depressed from losing these beloved family members and have put a deposit down on a puppy. We will be picking her up when she is old enough to leave her mother. We expect she will live with us her entire life. I can only see giving a dog away under 3 circumstances. The pet owner becomes unable to take care of the pet (elderly and sick, disabled due to illness, or unemployed and no longer able to feed it), the pet becomes a danger (not likely to happen unless not taken care of or jealous of an arriving child), or for one or more of the above reasons, the owner is forced to move and the pet can not be taken to the place that the owner moves to (sent to Iraq). I had a friend, breeder, who came down with cancer and lost her home. She was able to distribute her 7 dogs among her friends or sell a few of them to police departments as they were Sch. tranied gsd's. In this instance, I can understand. We took one of them.
i know i gave away my dog bruno like 2 years nd my mom would let me see him nd i think he died last year kause he was sick
