The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga

While I found the story compelling, I came away with a complete dislike of the characters, including the narrator, aka the White Tiger, Munna, Balram and Entrepreneur. Balram certainly illuminated the seedy side of life in India. In fact, he made a point of showing this as the "real" India. The powerlessness of the multitude, servitude and the corruption of government was deplorable; however my empathy towards the plight of the Indians and Balram was not enough to overcome my distaste for Balram's ultimate actions. I gave this 3.5 stars because it was so clever, yet disturbing.
