2457455 Lol time goes quick! My nephew started school this year. It feels like he was only born last week!

Exactly! And today is raw & wet, so I'm feeling older than I'd like. My 'baby' is making plans to go off to Europe, too. I keep thinking that someone made a mistake. I just CAN'T be that old already!

;-)

message 42: by Jo (new)

2457455 That sounds like fun! Have a great time

message 41: by Ally (new)

2439273 Thanks for the Birthday wishes - Its Friday - I'm off to London for the weekend with my mates and we're going to see 'Wicked' - maybe I can get a copy of the book and add it to my A-Z challenge list!

1436130 Finally read my 'X' authur xinran - Miss Chopsticks

Now got to start looking for the rest of my list and get into some serious reading again!

message 33: by Jo (new)

2457455 Yeah i will write a review and if i remember i will tell you how it was :)

message 32: by Tracy (new)

2579921 Yeah, I'm not sure when I'll be able to read it. I don't own that one yet. Hopefully by November I can start it. When you read it, I'll be interested to know what you think. :)

message 31: by Jo (new)

2457455 No i haven't read it yet. Luckily i picked the first one up then! I was thinking of reading it once i have read the books i picked out to read this month.

message 30: by Tracy (new)

2579921 Jo -

I believe Contagious is the next book after Infected. The funny thing is, I picked up Contagious without realizing it had a book before it. So, for those that haven't read Infected, you can read Contagious without feeling like your missing part of the story.

I enjoyed the book quite a bit. I have since added Infected to my TBR list. It looks like Infected is more about Perry Dawsey and what happens to him? Did you read it? I'm interested to read it to gain more info regarding his character.

message 29: by Jo (new)

2457455 How was Contagious? Is that part of a series? I have Infected by Scott Sigler

2457455 That happened to me at school. I used to read a bit but i hated the books they made us read at school and i didnt read much for ages. I only really read Harry Potter until a couple of years ago.

message 26: by Jim (new)

695116 Is anyone ever ready to read ancient Greek literature? I've always appreciated the Sunday Supplement versions of Oedipus, the Iliad, Odyssey & such. Still, I managed to struggle through most of them in long translation form too - usually in small doses over long periods of time to no good purpose other than pleasing a teacher.

I was always glad I learned to love reading BEFORE I was required to read many of the teacher's picks. <shudder> It turned some of my friends off so badly they still won't read.

I'm not sure I'm ready to read Ancient Greece litterature. However, Sky Burial An Epic Love Story of Tibet sounds a nice (truth-based)love story. Thanks Jim :)

message 24: by Jo (new)

2457455 Thanks, Jim!

message 23: by Jim (new)

695116 Xenophon has lot of stuff on Project Gutenberg.
http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/...

Xinran Xue wrote
Sky Burial An Epic Love Story of Tibet & a couple of other books, mostly biographies, I think.

message 22: by Hanako (new)

2598408 hum hum...good luck for the X then...I didn't find any

message 21: by Jo (new)

2457455 I googled this and found a site that listed authors alphabetically by last names and it showed about 3 for X and i think 2 were chinese authors writing chinese stories

message 20: by Sadie (new)

1420680 Xavier would be another name, but how common would that be as a last name? I say X can count for either!

message 19: by Jim (new)

695116 Malcolm X, Malcolm X Speaks Out? It's the only X I can think of.

Z is for Roger Zelazny -
Damnation Alley, Lord of Light & lots more fantasy/SF. He blurs the lines.

message 18: by Ally (new)

2439273 Ooh - This looks like a great idea! - It's my Birthday in October so I think I'll start a list after then and give myself a year to fill it up before my next birthday!...how many authors names begin with X???

message 17: by Jo (new)

2457455 Theres no time limit so you dont have to worry about not getting it done fast. glad you chose to join us :)

message 16: by Hanako (new)

2598408 Jo wrote: "What does everyone plan on reading next for their list? Does anyone have any good ideas for authors to use for the difficult letters like X? "

I'm planning to read :
F >> If I stay by Gayle Forman
H >> Sookie Stackhouse serie by Charlaine Harris
N >> The time traveler’s wife by Audrey Niffenegger
S >> The study serie by V. Snyder
W >> The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R Ward

I think it's gonna be hard for me go through the 26 letters until the end of the year...! Especially because I like series, so it gives less opportunities to try new authors. Anyway, this A-Z list is fun :) it's a good idea !

message 15: by Jo (new)

2457455 Let me know if its any good! There arent many X ones

message 14: by Lynne (new)

1436130 I have just got Miss Chopsticks by Xinran from the Library which I may go and start tonight when I get off my laptop and go to bed!
