I frequently hear my students talking about books that I don't think are "quality" books (for example, The Twilight series and Triple Crown publication books). I always ask them if they would read a different book if I suggested it and they almost always say yes. My problem is that I don't know books that are similar to Triple Crown books that are actually well written and conceived books. Does anyone have any ideas that I could pass on to get my kids reading a little higher quality books?

Since so many kids are into vampire books...what about suggesting they read the original by Bram Stoker? Perhaps they would also like the Phantom of the Opera.
