It's true that the Ph did sign on the Florence Agreement back in 1979. But the Bureau of Customs for the past months are actually putting on tax on imported books, blame it on Twilight?. See link, Here and here.
The good news is that The Department of Finance suspended this order due to issues raised by Unesco and other such organizations.

Try going into any BookSale branches mostly found in SM Malls.. books there is way too cheaper... though some are second hand but still i love going there just for the thrill of finding books...
yes your quite right that books here in the Phil. are more cheap... that's because books for that matter have no shipment tax or whatever... I think our country is a signatory in the Florence convention which states that there will no exportation tax on books...

I'm just a student...still bumming at home with my mom & step-dad (actually I moved here to the philippines to live with them, b/c I'm a momma's little girl & missed her...they retired here a few years back)...but I find the books cheaper here in the Philippines...I hardly bought books in San Diego...but thanks for the welcome!!!

I'm wonderin'... what's your job? You must have spent a lot on books, especially those brand new ones you got from Fullybooked... If I reckon I only bought one or two books from that bookstore; and any newly released is pricey... Naturally I always go to Booksale for my daily fix of fiction... kuripot tayo ehh and just to make ends meet... but I'm always thrilled at the prospect of finding gems in that store for a cheap price... I'm always exhilarated when such moments come... well i think I said a lot without introducing myself first... I'm jzhunagev (what a wierd name huh!) your friendly/fiendly alien sub-moderator in this group... feel free to join any of our discussions... as always the case in any Filipino house... feel at home here...
