Don, I know what you mean. The storyline becomes like a formula repeated over and over. There's a literary term for that, but I can't bring it to mind.

PS - You might check the Goodreads reviews of Terminal Freeze.I found the following there:

BELOW ARE QUOTES FROM TWO GOODREADS REVIEWS on the above webpage:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On 09/10/07 Adam Baker rated it: 3 of 5 stars
He said: "My first exposure to Lincoln Child's work. In this book, Child shows himself to be a man who researches and knows the subject matter that he's dealing with, a trait which usually entices and speaks worlds to me. It doesn't fail here."
On 04/28/09 Brenda said " I think I've read almost all of Clive Cussler's action hero-fantasy books with his character Dirk Pitt (don't laugh, that's his name). Lincoln Child is cut from the same cloth."
