I combined 3 copies of this book, and was able to delete one of the two with no ISBNs - but now the other no-ISBN version is showing as primary, and I can't delete it.

Thanks, I understand what API is now, I appreciate the info. Not to belabor the point, but you said something about using the API to import from Amazon; is that just a superlibrarian function? (I'm assuming you use Amazon's API and not GRs, is that right?)

171430 No, it's something Goodreads is set up to do any time someone searches for a book not currently in the GR database.

792884 Thanks, Rivka. I hadn't ever seen Feedbooks before. I just acquired an upgraded, new-to-me PDA that's much nicer for reading ebooks than my old one, so I'm especially tickled!

186853 You have to first make sure that it is combined with the other editions. Then the reviews will merge. I will delete it for you. And it's not a dumb question. :-)

171430 Which is a good reminder: try not to delete a book without combining it with a valid edition first, even if it appears to have no reviews.

83445 I got the first three. (One had a 1981 date for original 1980 and perhaps I should have left it, but it was otherwise a completely blank edition and I'm assuming that person figured they'd read the paperback/read it a year after publication. If I were in a different mode I might have left it or messaged the person, but by 1981 there should have been some more info on the edition page.

186853 It doesn't need to be deleted (it will just come back since it has an ISBN number). It is set as Not A Book so people won't mistake it for a book and add it to their shelf. Nothing more needs to be done with it.

Edit: I deleted it and was going to add it back - but it stayed deleted - so - it's gone now.

It looks like a place-holder that was entered, until an official ISBN was listed for this forthcoming book. I've made sure that all the pertinent data is included in the genuine ISBN entry, but there are too many users attached to this one, for me to delete it. Many thanks!

171430 No, that one should NOT be deleted. I'm not sure why someone removed the ISBN's (I restored them), but that's the Canadian edition of the book.

424514 Oh! OK, Rivka, thanks for clarifying. I saw an entry without an ISBN, and one with, and assumed the one without was created before a ISBN had been assigned. Glad you're the super-librarian, and not I! ;)
