Can someone delete this book please. It was added with the author name incorrectly spelled by a user who also added it with the correct author spelling. I changed the spelling for the author and combined it with the other editions but it needs a superlibrarian to delete it. Thanks!http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62832...
Sandra, The first listing and the last listing can't be deleted right now - getting the "unexpected error" message. Someone has deleted the 2nd listing. Asrina, I combined the listings and deleted one and combined them back with the other editions of Kiss Me, Annabel.
Please delete this bookhttp://www.goodreads.com/book/show/73445...
It was the same book with this one (this edition use the right ISBN, but the previous has more reviews)

I'm trying to delete one of its but failed because I'm not a Superlibrarian
Thanks before......
Please delete the following 3 books. The author's name was spelt wrong, I corrected, combined but all have way too many ratings for me to delete. (Lotsa people can't spell)http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/71010...

These books are same:

This one should probably be deleted (I can't find the book anywhere, but there is an article in the NYT with that title, so I got the feeling that people didn't quite get that it wasn't the title of the book, and I merged it, but it has 19 ratings)

Thanks
vicki, Thanks for checking. I had assumed a Goodreads member had added it. Martha, Whenever you see incorrect information, please correct it, or post in this group and ask another librarian to make the corrections.
According to the books edit page, it came from Amazon Canada amazon.ca. I looked it up there, and they're offering it for pre-order already.

Thanks for replying so fast! I'm not sure where the information came from in the first place, since it's not available through sources such as Amazon or B&N yet--and I'm concerned since it's partially incorrect information.
Martha, Members do add upcoming books, including those that don't have titles yet. (The Hunger Games Book Three). If you know the specific publication date, or even just that it will be published in 2011, please do correct the date. Deleting the book wouldn't do much good. Another member is likely to simply add it again. Why do you feel strongly about not having it listed? By the publication date it most likely will be on many members' shelves, and it seems to me that will be good for the book.
Hi everyone, I'm not sure whether this has ever come up or not, but there's a listing for Cypess YA Fantasy #2 (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/67684...) by Leah Cypess. The pub date is incorrect (should be 2011 not 2010), which I know I can fix. But I work for the publisher, and since this book is so far in the future and doesn't have a title yet, we'd prefer it not be listed at all yet.
How do you handle things like this?
I tried to combine this book in order to delete this particular entry, but combine is not working.

Thanks so much! Ha, I wasn't being very patient - I can't help myself - so I guess I was expecting immediate results! I should have realized that it would take some time to catch up.Thanks again!! :)

"But what does that mean "added x times" - added to someone's list? And now the rules are that it has to be 5 or less for regular folks to delete a duplicate?"
"Added" means "shelved" -- there's sometimes a confusion between the number of people who've given a star rating to a book and the number of people who've put a book on their shelves without rating it, but for deletion purposes, shelved five times with or without star rating means that you'll need to ask here for a super to delete it.
"For example, at the above link for the book, you can still see links for the "other edition" (like people's "review for other edition" and also in the sidebar) - which was the duplicate and deleted, and now only lead to a page that says "oops we can't find this book." The same thing happens at the author's site (Tamara Allen) - under "books by Tamara Allen" when you click on "Downtime" it leads you to the dead site instead of to the newly merged book."
That's a caching issue because the book has only just been deleted. The links will catch up soon enough and they'll all point to the correct edition -- you don't need to do anything else. (It can be really confusing when you're trying to check that you've correctly merged editions! One thing that helps is to go to the combine editions page or the all works page for the author; those pages refresh on the server faster than the book pages and the author profile pages, so you'll be able to see your changes there right away.)
Kal9k wrote: "I guess someone here deleted the duplicate like I wanted, but now there seems to be some other issues..."I said that I had gotten it. That's what I meant.
The other issues are caching-related and will clear up on their own in 48 hours or so.
I'm sorry I'm a little slow with this...But what does that mean "added x times" - added to someone's list? And now the rules are that it has to be 5 or less for regular folks to delete a duplicate?
Also, the book in question that I was trying to deal with -- "Downtime" by Tamara/James Allen -- I guess someone here deleted the duplicate like I wanted, but now there seems to be some other issues...
For example, at the above link for the book, you can still see links for the "other edition" (like people's "review for other edition" and also in the sidebar) - which was the duplicate and deleted, and now only lead to a page that says "oops we can't find this book." The same thing happens at the author's site (Tamara Allen) - under "books by Tamara Allen" when you click on "Downtime" it leads you to the dead site instead of to the newly merged book.
This is the first time I've done this, and I guess I assumed that when a duplicate of a combined copy was deleted/merged, then all the links for the two "editions" on goodreads would automatically refer to the newly merged copy.
Anyway, I guess I just don't understand what's going on with this book now or if I did something to screw it up or what to do to fix it...
So sorry for all the trouble, and I hope someone can help! :) Thanks so much.
On the combine page, if you hover your mouse over the entry, you'll see it's been added 8 times. 5 or less and you can delete.
Could someone please delete this:http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/66603...
I've already combined it with the actual edition, but I don't really understand why I can't get it to delete myself. This is the first time I've tried to do this, but it seems to say in the manual that peons like me can delete if a book has less than 15 member reviews (and this one only has 4 ratings and 3 reviews). But then I still get the super-librarian message. Am I not understanding something?
Thanks!
If the book has been combined with the other editions, and it has less than five adds, you can delete it by going to the edit page and clicking delete.
This is to be taken very seriously. If the book has an ISBN, do not delete it. Even if it does not have an ISBN, if it has any information in the entry it must be double checked against the other editions to see if it has any unique data (and if it does, it stays). Older books do not have ISBNs.
In the case you just posted, you would not have been able to delete it, since it has more than five reviews. Only a super librarian can do that.
Please be very very careful when deleting books.
LunaI suggest that you have a read of the Librarians manual as it tells you there how to delete books and the circumstances inwhich you should delete
http://www.goodreads.com/help/librarian
If a particular edition is listed twice, it is appropriate to merge the two entries into one. Please do not delete an edition of a book just because it does not have an ISBN. Some older books that members manually add will not have ISBNs. Please check carefully and err on the side of not deleting a book edition.
Note that merging two editions deletes the less popular edition and merges all reviews into the more popular edition. This is different from combining editions, which is where you can mark one version of a book as the same as another.
When you find a duplicate and you know which edition it was meant to be, this is how to merge that duplicate with the actual edition:
1. Separate the duplicate and its actual edition from any other editions of that book.
2. Combine them just with each other.
3. click 'delete this book' at the bottom of the edit book page. Note that this only works for books with less than 15 member reviews. It will merge with its actual edition because this is the most popular (only) other edition available in that combination.
4. Re-combine the actual edition with the other editions of the book.
Luna, that one still stays. It is sort of published in PDF format, even though you can't buy it in a bookstore.
