I just finished The Lion's Lady by Julie Garwood and I'm trying to decide if I should read Prince Charming and then go straight to her The Clayborne Brides One Pink Rose, One White Rose, One Red Rose or if I should read The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie first which is a book I'm dying to read.

It does get better!!!
Finished The Bride and The Prize. Absolutely loved both of those books. Very funny, very romantic. Would recommend them to everyone.
I started Comanche Heart this evening, and I am loving it so far. I blinked and realized I had read the first 150 pages.
You're welcome. To make it even better, for another 4 days you can get free shipping (even expedited) with a purchase of only $10 or more.

You're very welcome! I have a couple by Jude Devereaux here to try. The new one,
Lavender Morning , came in the mail the other day.
If you guys haven't already done so, check out Barnes and Noble's Bargain Books. You can narrow it down to historical romance. I've gotten tons of books for about $3.00 each. They are new, but might have a mark on them or something like that.

Thank you, UniquelyMoi! That link is going to come in handy! It gave me some new authors to try!
You're welcome! I'm glad to help when I can. I get so much information from other readers, it's nice to give back.
Hi Danette and Carolyn!
I have the Clayborne Brides series here, but haven't read them yet. I'm going through Garwood's books from earliest time period to latest.
As far as who write like her... She's my first real taste of historical and I am so glad she was. There's a website called Dear Author and they have a "if you like...." feature. Here's what they recommend for Julie Garwood fans.

I hope this helps!
This is only my second book. I've read Gentle Warrior and The Bride. You know, I think Dehvotion (above) would be a better person to ask. She seems to remember a lot of the books and what they're about.
Carolyn wrote: "I just finished Gentle Warrior by Julie Garwood. It was okay. I've heard people say her other books are good so I'll keep going. I have about 10 of her books. "Hey Carolyn!
I'm reading my 3rd book by Julie Garwood--'The Secret'... Very good. I loved 'The Bride' and 'The Wedding'. Have you read her Claybornes' Brides series?
PLEASE, tell me another author just like her!
Right now i'm reading "The Winter Queen" by Amanda McCabe. I was really looking forward too it and not really liking it. It's a "love at first sight" romance and i tend to find that type of love cheesy. I prefer build up.
Julie wrote: "Another favorite from Julie Garwood is Honor's Splendour. Dehvotion, have you read that one?
"
I just finished that one a couple days ago and I LOVED it! Another one that some people just didn't care for, but is one of my favorites.
Julie wrote: "Carolyn, keep reading she does so much more. She is such a hoot! =) "
She's a hoot for sure.
I'm only on page 28, but the H/H have already met...sort of... so it won't keep us waiting in that respect. They are still setting up the plot, but I'm sure it will be good.
I've heard people say it wasn't their favorite, then I've heard others say it was. It's all a matter of opinion I guess. I'll keep you posted!
Makes me want to go get it and read along with you. LOL That was my first Garwood book... there are so many wonderful things about it. *sigh*
They've just hinted that she hunts for their food, I'm only on page 22. But I'm really enjoying it so far.
Carolyn wrote: "Started The Bride last night. The crying/screaming sisters are funny. So far, so good. :)"
Oh, that is soooo funny! And "Jamie is a man's name"

LOL! "Rebellious Desire" is my least favorite Garwood book. Bradford? Oh yeah! I wanted to slap him a good one too! Foolish man (and that's being kind). ;)

OK, I see what you're refering to now. I kept looking at my list thinking.... yeah, that's the same order Carolyn listed them in.. LOL
I've read each book 1 time so far, as I am new to Garwood and adore the stories. I'm reading Rebellious Desire right now and I want to smack Bradford more than I've ever wanted to smack any of her leading males.
"Now, honestly, if you don't mind knowing who ends up with who, the books can be read out of order as there is no continuing storyline..."I was just responding to the above-quoted comment. The storylines do continue and it helps to know who is who and their relationships as they directly impact the drama and significance of the different stories.
I have read each of the aforementioned books at least three times. They are my favorite Julie Garwood books (especially "Ransom") and are a joy to read.
You have them in the correct order of reading.
Carolyn wrote: "Actually, "The Secret" (1) and "Ransom" (2) should be read in order. "Ransom" is a continuation or spin-off of "The Secret."

Isn't that the order I have it in? The Secret, Ransom, Shadow Music...
The Wedding takes place after The Bride, with the same characters making appearances.
I'm confused by your post, I guess.

I have a few of Anna Campbell's books too. I'll have to read those afterwards too. Someone also noted that Laura Kinsale's Flowers from the Storm is a really good book, so that's in my TBR stack. The cover is a little embarassing - I swear the guy has boobs - at least according to my 12 year daughter. LOL
Julie wrote: "Dehvotion, I read Claiming the Courtesan and Untouched by AC and I loved them both! "
Awesome, thank you!
Carolyn wrote: "Thanks Dehvotion. That's a lot of help. "
You're most welcome! I LOVE these books. I'm reading Rebellious Desire right now and will start Gentle Warrior when I'm through.
I hope I can find another author that captivates me like Garwood does. I have 4 Anna Campbell books. Is she any good?
This is the reading order, according to Fantastic Fiction:
The Bride, The Wedding. (Laird's Fiances')
The Secret, Ransom, Shadow Music.(Medieval)
The Lion’s Lady, Guardian Angel, The Gift, Castles. (Crown Spies)
For the Roses, The Clayborne Brides, Come the Spring (Roses)
Then the stand-alones: (I don't recall the order)The Prize, Saving Grace, Honor’s Splendour, Prince Charming, Rebellious Desire, Gentle Warrior.
Now, honestly, if you don't mind knowing who ends up with who, the books can be read out of order as there is no continuing storyline... though I am not sure about the Roses series because I haven't read those yet.
I'm trying to read them in the order of the books I have. I' think The Bride is next. That's the one almost everyone liked the most. :)
Carolyn wrote: "I just finished Gentle Warrior by Julie Garwood. It was okay. I've heard people say her other books are good so I'll keep going. I have about 10 of her books. "
I'm going to read this one this week. I've been devouring her books. My favorites are The Secret, Ransom, Honor's Splendour, The Bride, The Wedding, The Gift... *sigh* I really love them all.

Here are several historical romances, free for download. I am not related to this site in any way, I just wanted to pass this along. Sometimes, things like this are a great way to read authors we might otherwise never try out.

Well I didn't like McNaught's Until You in the end.Now I'm reading Anna Campbell's Tempt the Devil that just sucks you in from first few lines.
I'm reading Judith McNaught's 3rd book in the Westmoreland series Until You. Nowhere near as good as A Kingdom of Dreams or Whitney, My Love unfortunately.
