135295 The permanent link for the Poetry Events / Calendars is here:

http://amyking.wordpress.com/2009/07/16/...

However, I will add the calendar to at least two more online venues such as Red Room and Goodreads, and perhaps others, once the calendar is a little more filled out. I don't have time at the moment, but it seems there are a few major cities and small town series that have been omitted. Please feel free to email me (amyhappens at gmail.com) addt'l suggestions or post them in the comments to be added to the list. Once I've added more over the next few days, I'll duplicate the listing for others who don't venture to my blog.

Thanks to all who chipped in and provided links! Hopefully this resource will serve those on the hunt for live poetry for a long time!

Best,

Amy

p.s. Please let me know if I missed something you previously sent - advance apologies!

739402 Thanks for the links, Wendy. I'm moving from Oklahoma to Minneapolis in less than two weeks. You've given me a good start on my new city.
Blessings,
Tara

109658 Hi, Amy,

Here's a link for a reading series I organize in Des Moines, Iowa. (The website obviously hasn't been updated yet for the fall, but it will be soon!)

Thanks,
Jennifer

135295 I'm looking for links to readings / reading series that are specific to a place. The list will consist of links to poetry readings via place:

Baltimore, MD - link

New Jersey - link

etc.

Hope that helps!

Amy

2152146 Hey are you just looking for readings, or are you looking for local calendars which point to readings? Sorry if I got it confused!

By the way, I see you're in Canada. Most Canadians I know take exception to calling the U.S. "America" bc they consider themselves to be part of the North American continent.

And yes, I am taking poetry links from any and everywhere.

Cheers,

Amy

2063546 Frankly I will have to search for the one for my city, we have an arts festival (Arts in the Heart, combined with the Westabou festival this year) every year in September but no solid calender for events. The local college does a week long event in the spring (Sandhills Writers Conference)as well but very few other things happen here in Augusta, Ga. Will have to find the links.

Why do you assume "America-only"? Did you offer a non-American link and I, unbeknownst to myself, rejected listing it? Did someone else?

Odd assumption there, Stuart!

1753569 Oh, I see. When you say "cities and towns" you mean "American cities and towns." I didn't realize this group was based on the assumption of America-only. I'm outta here. Good luck, everyone.

1753569 In Toronto, there are two options for receiving information about the various readings, launches and workshops in the city:

1) The Mercury Press has a PDF downloadable monthly at http://www.themercurypress.ca/?q=word

2) Poet Carey Toane and I operate the Patchy Squirrel Lit-Serv, which drops a week's worth of poetry events into subscribers' inboxes every Monday. Subscribe by writing to patchysquirrel@gmail.com

Cheers,

Stuart

I found this great one for Chicago (updated daily) -- http://www.chicagopoetrycalendar.org/

And always reference this one for New York -- http://www.poetz.com/calendar/

But I recently discovered in my web searches a sad lack of other city / town poetry reading sites. Perhaps my skills are lacking.

Please send me your poetry reading sites so that I might update my list -- I'll post it here and on my blog for future reference when all seems complete! That way, whenever intrepid poets travel, they'll be able to check the sites and see whose reading and what's what in your town!

Thanks,

Amy
