Having read all of Herman Hesse's books first at age 15 I was fortunate to start with "Siddartha".I knew it was about a man's seach for spiritual guidance and direction.While it isn't the "deepest" of Herman Hesse's books it has terrific emotional drive and impact on the reader.I was a changed person after reading this short book. I re-read over time often the Hesse books. You want to know what an artist's soul is like, read Herman Hesse.
