But on the other hand, I rather had this ending than ones where they hurry up and end the story ( grisham)

I have gotten over the events in Beyond Reach but it has been hard. Karin Slaughter has been having a contest in her newsletter for readers to submit essays on all of the reasons and ways they hate her for that ending.

People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks (5/5) Fiction about the story over hundreds of years of a Jewish manuscript that eventually turns up in modern post war Bosnia. An interesting story about the varied lives that Jews have led as well as their interactions, sometimes surprising, with Christians and Muslims.

Murder a la Mode by G.A. McKevett (4/5) Entertaining mystery and realty show (The Bachelor) spoof.

Justice Denied by J.A. Jance (4.5/5) I enjoyed this JP Beaumont mystery which integrates the mystery plot and the personal very well.

The Race by Richard North Patterson (4.5/5) Sort of an alternate history version of the 2008 presidential race, this is full of twists and moral dilemmas. I found it very suspenseful.

Cockatiels at Seven by Donna Andrews (4.5/5) Another funny well plotted Meg Langslow. I'm glad these books are back up to a speed as there were a couple of clunkers.

Compulsion by Jonathan Kellerman(3.5/5) This wasn't terrible but somewhat exasperating because Kellerman is starting to recycle his tricks so his plot twists are no longer surprising. Also, Alex has become such a blank bore. I think Kellerman should try writing a novel told in the first person by Milo Sturgis. He seems the more interesting character at this point and has a real job.

Divided in Death by J.D. Robb (4.5/5) Robb has written more about Eve Dallas than Kellerman has about Alex but she manages to keep Eve and the other characters fresh and you keep learning new things about them.
