2245895 I finished reading 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher, How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff, Stolen by Lucy Christopher, and I'm currently half way through A Gathering Light by Jennifer Donnelly. All have been excellent!

1499743 I finished my reading goals listed in message #33. Yay! I really didn't think I would. My faves were Evermore and Hunger Games

message 61: by Angie, YA lovin mod!! (new)

86285 I am about to finish Lock and Key today.

message 60: by Jo (new)

2457455 I think its pretty good so far and im nearly done. I probably wouldnt like it if i was older than i am now (20) cos its very YA. Part of it is a bit stupid if you go into it expecting a world class novel but if you enjoy it for what it is then its good

A friend of mine recommended The Summoning, and then a student of mine told me she thought it was stupid. Interested in in finding out what you think of it.

I loved it. I got the digital copy from when the author released it for free. =) I put it on my Kindle and was hooked! I actually read most of it while I was sitting at orientation trying not to fall asleep. =P

1761473 I've read these so far:

Cheated
Rash
The Forest of Hands and Teeth
Number 8
Poison Ink
Glass
I Capture the Castle

I really liked The Forest of Hands and Teeth and I Capture the Castle. Other than that, I was pretty disappointed with this month's reads. =(

Nophoto-u-25x33 Well I just finished Catching Fire, and Girl in the Arena(I dont recommend the second unless you have the patience of a saint).Next is Savvy by Ingrid Law. Sucks to be me by Kimberly Pauley, Beautiful Creatures Kami Garcia, blue moon and evermore by alyson noel and finally Violet Wings by victoria hanley...with the objective to avoid any book stores, libraries or any of the advance reader copies in the mail because I already have several more on the list to read and I dont need to add more.

message 45: by Jo (new)

2457455 Yeah i thought it was quite mild it was more of a romance than a ghost story

message 44: by Kaycee (new)

2521774 I thought it was more YA, but the characters were much older ghosts who were in teen bodies. It was a good change from what I expected, I thought it was going to be a darker ghost story but it was pretty mild.

message 43: by Jo (new)

2457455 What did you expect?

message 42: by Kaycee (new)

2521774 Jo wrote: "Did you like a certain slant of light? I loved it "

Yea, it was pretty good. Not what I expected when I bought it though.

Paper Towns was wonderful. A bit like "Looking for Alaska," but different enough to be enjoyable.

I hope so, too! I heard mixed reviews. One person said it was just okay and another said they couldn't put it down. So, I guess we'll see!

message 35: by LW (new)

2531214 I'm reading "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" and "What I saw and how I lied."

I have read Looking For Alaska and really would like to read Paper Towns next. Thanks for the info!

message 31: by Anna (new)

1104539 I love John Green and I have read all his books. An Abundance of Katherines is one of my favorite YA books. Looking for Alaska is well written, but I found depressing. Paper Towns was in between those two books. The characters were realistic to me and I always appreciate how he has strong female characters who "encourage" the male characters to mature. I also like his endings--he leaves it to your imagination. If you have never read John Green, I would read Paper Towns first and then An Abundance of Katherines--not related books, but I think I would have liked Paper Towns more if I hadn't read Katherines. Looking for Alaska is dark.

I LOVE dystopian society books!!! I really enjoyed The Giver but I haven't heard of the other two. Thanks for the recommendations, they are now on my to-read list.

message 19: by Ralph (new)

2121149 :D It helps me keep track of what I still have to read. Glad you like the idea. =)

message 18: by Angie, YA lovin mod!! (new)

86285 Ralph I like the idea of crossing out book names once you are done.. I think I am going to do that!

message 17: by Lorraine (new)

2249896 I just finished 'The Unnameabless" by Ellen Booraem, and highly recommend it. It's one of those alternate society stories about an island where people are named for what they do and everything must have a use. Main character doesn't quite fit the mold, of course. You'll like it if you liked The Giver or Truesight. Five stars from me.

I really liked The Girl Who Could Fly, it was very different but with a good message -- it even made me cry, which was unexpected.
