http://www.themillions.com/2009/07/most-...I found the above link pretty interesting in terms of what "anticipated" books are coming out. I thought the rest of you might find it interesting too.
Dree:Great minds think alike! I was totally thinking of the library queues myself - if you get on the list early enough, it is so great to have brand new "hot" books straight from the library.
Unfortunately, or library doesn't start the queue until the book is processed (just the first copy does the trick). So I tend to check once a month or so on titles I am waiting for. I have been waiting for "The Help" for like 5 months because I missed that one.I have realized I spend a ridiculous amount of time managing my queue, trying not to have 4 things come at once. Trying :)
Dree:I get everything in large clumps myself so I am impressed if you are able to manage your queue at all!
Oddly enough, I am also waiting (and waiting) for "the help" too!

The Help is worth the wait -- excellent book, and it was just sitting on the new releases shelf at my local library.
Just sitting there!? I should actually be getting it in about a week. I have also been waiting and waiting for Cutting for Stone, I am thinking 2 weeks on that one.I manage my queue by 1) making sure I finish up anything else if I see 2 or more are coming at once and 2) I have been known to put a hold, see how long the queue is, and then cancel and redo it a week later. It tells me what # I am and how many copies there are, so I can generally tell how long it will take to get something, more or less. Our check-out periods are 3 weeks, and we have 10 days to pick up a book. So sometimes I will pick up one book and leave another, getting it a few days later to stretch out my time. But that can backfire if more come. There's no renewing queued books. But if you DON'T pick it up within ten days, you get a $1 fine (this is a new fine, I have no issue with it, they were going charge $! to place a hold--that went over well, haha).
