2650878 Hi, I'm from Edinburgh Scotland. I'm really enjoying the chat and looking at what everyone's reading. Thanks!

2844616 Hi,
I'm from Minneapolis and am looking forward to being part of the group. I taught elementary school as a first career, and now am a web site manager for a non-profit organization. Reading is my way of relaxing and escaping the craziness of busy days. The reviews I'm reading are terrific, so please continue providing them. They make choosing a new book so much more fun.
Gayle

1412350 Hello, I'm Emily. I just took an English teaching job in China. I've always loved reading, and now that I live in a place where Facebook and Youtube are blocked I have no choice but to read constantly. The library at the University where I work is filled with mostly classics, so I'm all set for mind expansion once I finish the books I brought with me! So far it's been wonderful!

Nophoto-f-25x33 Hi, My name is Clara from Evening Shade Arkansas. I'm a fitness instructor at a community college. I spend time with my 14 year old great niece who plays sports and reads. We have that in common.
I'm not very crafty but I did manage to make one scrapbook for my mother. I plan to live to 100 so I am middle age now! I usually have a least two books going at one time. I like several of the classics. Authors like Charles Dickens, Lousia May Alcott, Hemingway, J.R.R. Tolkien and his friend C.S. Lewis are just a few to mention. I like books that make me laugh out loud. Authors like Anne George, and Carolyn Hains, and many others. I'm looking forward to reading 'Julia's Chocolates'.

message 1858: by Jessica (new)

2830881 Hey guys! My name is Jessica and in the last year or so I have gotten to be an avid reader. I am in college so it has always been hard to find time to read for pleasure... but I have been making time and loving it. I read just about anything that keeps my interested. Favorite book so far has probably been the Time Traveler's Wife.... my guilty pleasure are the twilight books hehe... just found this website and am really excited to chat with all of you!

message 1859: by Susan (new)

672625 Welcome to all the new chicks! I'm sure you will love this group as much as I do! Be prepared for your TBR pile to be out of control in no time!!!

message 1860: by Luann (new)

1108506 Hi, I'm LuAnn. I live in Minneapolis, MN with my husband and 3 ferrets. I work in marketing communications for a lawnmower manufacturer. I LOVE to read. If I were to ever win the lottery I'd spend the majority of the time reading - probably on a beach. I have so many books on my "to read" book shelf and yet can't stop myself from buying more books! My favorite genre of books are espionage, conspiracy and crime - pretty unusual for a woman. My favorite authors are Flynn, Sanford and Silva. When I'm not reading about spies, terrorists and serial killers I enjoy reading books about strong and smart women. I look forward to joining the discussions within this group.

message 1861: by Yogagrrl (new)

2785873 Hi LuAnn! I LOVE John Sanford. Have you read his latest? The reviews seem mixed...

I have not read his latest - is that a Virgil Flowers one? I haven't read any of that series - do you like it?

message 1863: by Yogagrrl (new)

2785873 LuAnn- I think it is a Flowers book. I've liked all the ones I've read so far (although the Kid books are my favorite series of his) but I haven't picked up the new one yet.

message 1864: by Rosemary (new)

1405862 welcome Jessica and Luann. There are a lot of nice people ready to share book talk with you!

message 1866: by Emily (new)

1338270 Hi, I'm Emily and I love to read, too. In fact, someone told me at work once that I "eat" books. I'm a free lance musician, and a stay-at-home Mom with my 19 month old son. The reason I joined this group was to get introduced to new books and new authors. I'm looking forward to "Julia's Chocolates"!

message 1867: by Holli (new)

622853 I like that Emily... the eating books part! LOL

message 1868: by Jen (new)

1289001 Wow, this is a big, wonderful group of women! I'm a writer, here's my book: Musical Chairs But, MORE IMPORTANTLY I'm a book lover. I think my favorite author changes every week, but for now I'll go with two: Nabokov and Audre Lorde.

message 1869: by Amanda (new)

2832291 Hi all, I am Amanda. Like all of you, I am a lover of books and a passionate reader. I have an obsession with buying books, whenever I see something that appeals to me I have to get it. My bookshelf has about 30 books I still need to get around to reading (I suppose I buy faster than I read). They range from historical fiction (one of my favorite genres) to politics to, what I like to call, feel-good girly novels. One of my favorite reads recently was Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice (maybe cliche but it really is entertaining and classic). I am looking forward to being a part of this group and having contact with women that love books as much as I do.

message 1870: by Rosemary (new)

1405862 Welcome to the group, Amanda. I know you'll like it here. Welcome Emily. I just finished "eating" Mary Higgins Clark's new novel. Jen, if you can convince me to read Nabokov or Lorde, I'll give it a try!

message 1871: by Ariana (new)

2833821 Hi I'm Ariana. Was looking around at joining a local book club until I saw most are during the day. Being a mom and a full time graphic designer doesn't allow for day groups so my friend told me about this. Alas here I am. even though I tend to be on the shy side, I enjoy reading all of your posts. I'm sure soon enough I will participate more but at first I'd like to see what its all about here :O) I do love to read. For a while I was staying up until 2 or 3 am reading but that can only last so long. now I'm in a dry spout and trying to get back to some books/authors I tend to enjoy to get me hooked again. just got at the library, out of the blue by isabel wolff ;)
warning: i can't spell and i don't like capitals much lol

message 1872: by Glenda (new)

2793945 Hi, my name is Glenda and I love to read. I always have a book with me and watch very little TV. I live in Shreveport, LA and am the Business Office Manager in a hospital. I am currently reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I read this book many years ago and am reading it again for an online book group. I love this book. It scares me some, but I still am enjoying it. Hope to meet lots of new friends with lots of book suggestions.

Nophoto-u-25x33 Hello,
I am Wylene and lead a book group of about 15 women in Georgia. We read everything and have lively discussions. We are from different parts of the country but all enjoy books. It binds us together. Right now, we are revisiting Jane Austen. This month it is Persuasion. Last month's read was The Lace Reader and our summer book was The Shadow of the Wind. Great to see what others are reading and comments.

Yes, Three Cups of Tea was a read I wish everyone would read. It is a little slow in the beginning but what one person can do to make the world a better place is inspiring. Read it!

message 1890: by Kelly (new)

2486657 Hi I am Kelly. I love in Southwest Florida, love the sunshine. I read a lot and like to mix it up as much as possible. I am always looking for new authors but my favorite books are murder/mystery types. Not too much into the romance stuff but every now and then it is a nice change of pace. I also like to read about the economy and business, love the numbers, guess that is why I am in finance/accounting. Looking forward to hearing about the books you like and finding some new stuff to check out.

Thanks Chris. I am really glad I signed up for this group. I have found quite a few books on here already that I want to read. I thought I was a pretty quick reader but I can't seem to get through books fast enough these days to keep up with all the new authors I am being introduced to!

message 1895: by Emma (new)

2908089 Hi everyone, nice to be here. My name is Emma I am a great lover of books, I can read all sorts, I love Philippa Gregory and historical novels, I love history in general. I also like fiction and recently I am leaning towards the sci/ fi fantasy genre which Is something I thought I would never like. Turns out I do. I tend to read more e-books basically because they are far more accessible for me and saves a few trees along the way.

Anyway glad to be here

Emma
