That's great, Holly! Way to go!Sharon, I really wish I could be there to meet you. It sounds like great fun. :o)
Congratulations, Holly!I have a book-signing/release celebration scheduled for 12/12 in conjunction with our local Dickens Christmas Faire/Victorian reenactment. I wish more of my Goodreads friends lived nearby so that you could all come and join in the fun.
I recently received an email from a local Womens Club asking me to speak at their annual Literary Luncheon. I celebrated with an attempted cartwheel when the host informed me that they normally have 100-150 people per event!
It taught me that some efforts come back around. A member of the club grabbed one of my flyers at a signing months prior...

That's great stuff. I always love to hear tales of sales success.
So I decided to be self-promoting.
My screenplay that I have had up in my writing, I decided to make into a book and publish myself through lulu.com
http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-bo...
If you are ever looking for the next best unproduced screenplay to read it is now available for sale. Not that many people go around reading screenplays, but it's really an experimental way to shop my script around while maintaining copywrite and not have to worry about people stealing your ideas because well, it's copywritten, in a book. Silly perhaps, insane probably more so, experimental definitely. For those of you who have already read it and given me your fantastic notes, I thank you, if you feel so inclined as to write a review, be it positive or negative, I would appreciate it. Thank you for your time with my blatent self-promotion.
Hope all is well and that this is posted in the correct thread.

Nancy, I like the way you think!!! That is how I got my freelance gig with TheApple.com. The Internet is our friend.

Congratulations Nancy, and the SF Academy! Stuart:-)

Hi all,I'm here to encourage you to keep trying to get publicity. I have been using HARO and Google search to come up with articles related to my books, mysteries which feature a Realtor amateur sleuth. I have been hitting the web hard emailing my press release which begins, "The real estate market's a mess. What's a Realtor to do? Write a murder mystery," and getting some return hits.
As a result, I got questioned by a columnist for the San Francisco Examiner and helped him with an article. He just sent me a prelim for what he's posting which included the following: "Nancy's books are smart, funny mysteries that also give a true to life look at the life of a real estate agent."
Keep trying! Eventually it works. Now I can quote a SF paper that my books are smart funny mysteries. I'm so excited.
btw, Sharon, if you convert your book to Kindle yourself, watch out. When I took The Demo Tapes to Kindle, the conversion process ate punctuation, tabs, and some other things. Including words. Be sure to proof it carefully. Twice.
You're not the first who's said their Kindle sales are directly related to how much time they spend on Amazon. *sigh* Just another place to create a presence... it never ends, does it?
Sharon wrote: "I just read the particulars on adding a book to Amazon Kindle; I may have to give it a shot. :-)"
Hey Sharon,
I added my book to Kindle yesterday. It was pretty easy to do. I had to get my publisher to send me an unsecured PDF and when I previewed how it would look, it seemed formatted kind of weird. We'll see. I figure having another stream of revenue can't hurt. Make sure you have your bank account information handy to so they can forward your sales.

Robert, your books sound very interesting. Would you consider trading electronic versions of your work for mine and doing reviews for each other?

Good luck Robert. I wish you great sales!
Yup, Terrie. My best sales are usually Kindle books. They have slowed quite bit lately though.Could have something to do with how little time I actually spend on Amazon these days...
Wow, congratulations Bernadette. And good luck with Amazon Kindle. I need to check that out. I keep forgetting. I think Jaimey said she gets a lot of sales that way. terrie
I put Riding the Florida Time Line and Riders of the Spew on Amazon Kindle today. We'll see how that works out.

Bernadette, makes all your efforts worth while when someone takes the time to acknowledge it.
Hope you have a great day again today. I am on my way to your website now to check it out. Have not had anytime lately with my travels and trying to work to just explore everyones websites.
I received this email yesterday and it really brightened my day - which was in desperate need of brightening! "Dear Bernadette,
I have spent several hours last night and this morning browsing your website, after locating and ordering your ABC book. I felt compelled to let you know that your website is absolutely amazing. With every click I find more and more wonderful and invaluable information. I teach fourth and fifth grade in Massachusetts, and having an Egyptian background, I love to share Egypt with my students in many different ways. You have offered high quality ideas and resources and I am very grateful. I look forward to receiving your book and continuing to explore your website!
Shokran!"

My protagonist is a real estate agent, the only such protagonist I'm aware of. If any of you would like a free read of first chapters for both books, you can do so at: www.GoodReadMysteries.com.
Nancy, what a great review she gave you. It is funny how people respond and how wonderful that she told you in that manner. Guess it distracted her from her ordeal with the taxes.
What is the name of your book?
It would be nice if we all signed with the name of our books, or in some cases the one we are discussing since some have more than one book. That way when a "newbie" or someone is not familiar with your work can look it up.

Well I think they have a lot of empty space and want to make the town look like there is something in the artisian water source that makes the town people become important. As I said before I think I fooled them!

You are too funny Madison, but thanks. I checked the photographer out on Google and he is already famous.

I think the photographer will be famous for getting a picture of you Penelope. He was smart to get a photo while you are on your journey of being discovered.

I had an interesting thing happen at my book signing and reading a couple weeks back. I mentioned before that I was in my old home town in Spokane, Wa. My last person was in line for signing and he did not buy a book but wanted to take my picture. He explained that he had a hobby after retiring and it was a continuation of his photography work. He had attended 1799 book signings prior to mine and he gave my talk and reading an excellent review. I really appreciated that since I was nervious to be among old home town friends.

Guess my sign and reading was my 15 minutes to fame but it was fun and my picture and book cover will be displayed in the museum. Maybe it will even sell a few books. Got to promote where ever you can!
I didn't realize how close Betrayal actually was to the rest. I didn't think it would "sell" enough to do what it did. I really didn't want that to happen. Ok, I'll drop it now.
Good news: I got a compliment on my short short. That surprised me a little. I was expecting it to be torn to shreds. Tough love and all...
