2194122 I am celebrating a successful book signing in my old home town, Spokane, Washington, selling more the following day and then relaxing on a cruise ship and selling more books on the ship and by accident at a port of call. My lugguage returned home lighter than it started.

I also introduced my children's book in the works and have a lot of interest and orders to fill as soon as it is published. All from my trip out West!

2426796 Okay guys, great news. I am now an official columnist for TheApple.com (a division of monster.com). They are featuring my first article and I am so proud. Check it out! http://theapple.com/benefits/articles/86...

1757121 Hi, everyone. I've just given final approval for the front cover art on my UK paperback (you can see it on my profile and as my userpic). Pin-up artist James Courtney created the design. We're finalizing the back right now, and the initial "rough" looks great. :-) I'm so excited. :-)

2194122 It is a nice feeling to see things as you visoned or better than you visoned. It is heart warming to hear that the effort you put into writing or designing something is worth it. We all need to take the time to celebrate our accomplishment and to acknowledge those of others.

Congratulations Madison and Sharon.

Thanks Jaimey and Madison for creating a place for us all to celebrate the positive sides of our ventures.

1654851 And thanx to JJ for creating the group. You should change your title to "Group Creator" :o)

Or maybe "Group Thinker-Upper"

message 17: by Jj, Co-Moderator (new)

1986377 I am but a humble co-moderator. Nothing more. Anyone could have clicked the "Create Group" button. I was simply given the honor by doing it first.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Savior, the Lord, Jesus Christ. Without him, none of this would have been possible. I know I'm forgetting someone. But thank you! You like me! You really like me!!

message 28: by Jaimey, Co-Moderator (new)

1654851 I didn't realize how close Betrayal actually was to the rest. I didn't think it would "sell" enough to do what it did. I really didn't want that to happen.

Ok, I'll drop it now.

Good news: I got a compliment on my short short. That surprised me a little. I was expecting it to be torn to shreds. Tough love and all...

message 29: by Penelope (new)

2194122 I had an interesting thing happen at my book signing and reading a couple weeks back. I mentioned before that I was in my old home town in Spokane, Wa. My last person was in line for signing and he did not buy a book but wanted to take my picture. He explained that he had a hobby after retiring and it was a continuation of his photography work. He had attended 1799 book signings prior to mine and he gave my talk and reading an excellent review. I really appreciated that since I was nervious to be among old home town friends.

The man,I did not know, took my picture with my book in hand and said it would be in the Washington State Museum with the other famous people from Spokane. It would be with the autographs of all he had collected. I felt important for that moment but humble. It was a great boost to make me really feeling like an author. He explained that my picture would be in the same company as several well-known authors, famous movie stars like Bing Crosby, TV personality, Craig T. Nelson who played The Coach and then race car driver Richard Petty.

Guess my sign and reading was my 15 minutes to fame but it was fun and my picture and book cover will be displayed in the museum. Maybe it will even sell a few books. Got to promote where ever you can!

I think the photographer will be famous for getting a picture of you Penelope. He was smart to get a photo while you are on your journey of being discovered.

message 34: by Penelope (new)

message 36: by Penelope (new)

2194122 Well I think they have a lot of empty space and want to make the town look like there is something in the artisian water source that makes the town people become important. As I said before I think I fooled them!

My best moment was getting an email from a woman who bought my book in late March. The email, dated April 16th at 9:30 a.m. began with,"I hope I'm sending this to the right place because I'm really upset." She said she had procrastinated on doing taxes and had to rush hers to an open-late post office. When she got home she was "wired" and decided to start my book for a few minutes before bed as a calming distraction. "I stayed up all night to finish it," she said. "Why didn't you tell me I wouldn't be able to put it down?"

message 38: by Penelope (last edited Jul 01, 2009 08:36AM) (new)

2194122 Nancy, what a great review she gave you. It is funny how people respond and how wonderful that she told you in that manner. Guess it distracted her from her ordeal with the taxes.

What is the name of your book?

It would be nice if we all signed with the name of our books, or in some cases the one we are discussing since some have more than one book. That way when a "newbie" or someone is not familiar with your work can look it up.

author of: Travel Absurdities

Penelope, I have two out. The woman read my first in the Regan McHenry Mystery series, "The Death Contingency." The new book is "Backyard Bones". My protagonist is a real estate agent, the only such protagonist I'm aware of. If any of you would like a free read of first chapters for both books, you can do so at: www.GoodReadMysteries.com.

2194122 Thanks Nancy, I will put that on my schedule for this evening!

message 41: by Bernadette (new)

1837176 I received this email yesterday and it really brightened my day - which was in desperate need of brightening!

"Dear Bernadette,

I have spent several hours last night and this morning browsing your website, after locating and ordering your ABC book. I felt compelled to let you know that your website is absolutely amazing. With every click I find more and more wonderful and invaluable information. I teach fourth and fifth grade in Massachusetts, and having an Egyptian background, I love to share Egypt with my students in many different ways. You have offered high quality ideas and resources and I am very grateful. I look forward to receiving your book and continuing to explore your website!

Shokran!"

2363398 I put Riding the Florida Time Line and Riders of the Spew on Amazon Kindle today. We'll see how that works out.

message 48: by Thersa (new)

1877052 Wow, congratulations Bernadette. And good luck with Amazon Kindle. I need to check that out. I keep forgetting. I think Jaimey said she gets a lot of sales that way.

terrie

message 49: by Jaimey, Co-Moderator (new)

1654851 Yup, Terrie. My best sales are usually Kindle books. They have slowed quite bit lately though.

Could have something to do with how little time I actually spend on Amazon these days...
