I just re-read Thomas the Rhymer by Ellen Kushner. I have read it a billion times, but never get tired of it. I have also started a lot of books, but not finished them.
I just finished The Sorceress and the Cygnet by Patricia A. Mickillip, and then after I have finished my required reading, (A Conneticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court) I will read Les Miserables......

Patricia McKillip is a great fantasy writer.
I read Water for Elephants and reread The Time Traveler's Wife as well as a really GREAT Harry Potter fandom book called Harry, A History by Melissa Anelli. (It's about the phenomenon of Harry Potter and how it affected the world.)

Me too. Ironically, I think The Sorceress and the Cygnet is one of the few books of hers that I haven't read.

You are the 3rd person I have heard this summer recommend "Water for Elephants" and "The Time Traveler's Wife". They must be good books!
I haven't been able to keep up with what I've been reading... but right now I'm closing in on the end of City of Thieves. It has been a wonderful read - sad and disturbing, but good!
I read the City of Thieves back in April. It is as you say sad and provides a realistic view of a besieged city; however I still found humor in the interaction between these two young men.
I am currently reading the Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart. It is a delightful read. This is a story about a high school sophmore girl who takes action when she is excluded from her boyfriend's all male secret society.
Newsweek had an interesting feature this week, 50 books for our times. Check them out here.http://www.newsweek.com/id/204300
