1321995 Well this is goodreads...lets talk about books! What are you guys currently reading? What are some of your favorite books?

I am currently reading Jailbird by Kurt Vonnegut and Life of Pi by Yann Martel. They are both quite good.

So what are you all reading?

Something we completely agree upon, at last! The writing and philosophy expressed are quite beautiful.

Although, next week, I'm going to the bookstore and picking up a few new ones."

I quite agree. He shows the hypocrisy of man and of religion quite well. The stories are more important than weather or not they actually happened, so beautiful.

message 10: by Davis (new)

2160575 I just picked Grapes Of Wrath up from the library, I'm a huge Steinbeck junkie. I just finished 'Winter Of Our Discontent' last week.

message 11: by Davis (new)

2160575 I'm just reading a bunch of his stuff to gear up for 'East Of Eden'

what else is on that list?

I think you might really like Vonnegut -- he has an interesting take on life, philosophy, and politics, probably similar to some of your views. I recently finished A Man Without A Country which is on my top 5 list. Excellent author and a brilliant man.

message 13: by Davis (last edited Jun 23, 2009 04:41PM) (new)

2160575 Yeah, Vonnegut is okay. Portrait Of The Artist Of A Young Man is on that list, Dubliners, The Great Gatsby, Huckleberry Finn, etc

message 14: by Davis (new)

2160575 Also, On The Road and Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot are up there.

message 26: by Lauren, Thefragmentsofmyskullbegintofallonyourtonguelikepixiedust (new)

1867491 I have the weirdest habit, before I read a book, I open it to the cover and see what it smells like. I love the smell of ink and paper and glue. <3

message 27: by Lauren, Thefragmentsofmyskullbegintofallonyourtonguelikepixiedust (new)

1867491 Nope. I just got this one from the library, it's got a good smell. It's called M or F?

message 36: by Davis (new)

2160575 Of Mice And Men was amazing, classic Steinbeck. Opened me to his whole world.

message 37: by Lauren, Thefragmentsofmyskullbegintofallonyourtonguelikepixiedust (new)

message 38: by Davis (new)
