ok, this is my final update for the month--everything I've read so far this month. I didn't get through quite as many as normal for a couple of reasons. I was concentrating on my classes on my new toy (boy, that new embroidery machine is N*I*C*E) and also the last 2 books (The Kate Mallory ones) just could NOT engage my attention. I knew that the first one would be the usual "first book in a series" with all that implies, but the second didn't get any better. So, I'm going to return the rest of the series to the library and not bother trying to force myself to read it.

I'm about half way through Skin Trade - I hope to have it finished before the end of the month. Shouldn't be too hard, because I can barely put it down.

oohhh Lenore, a new baby. What kind? My "baby" is pushing 6 now and is a common old American Shorthair. But SHE thinks she's the Empress of the world. :o) Her name is Bastette, and yes, she really DOES think she's a goddess. She's white, black and rust.

And we all know that new babies require lots of love and affection. Just until they KNOW they have you wrapped around that little claw. Then they know that they are the rulers of the house. Enjoy her while she's still little and cuddley. They turn into teenagers way to fast. At least with human "babies" you've got a few years. Cats go from baby to teenager in only a year.

Finished An Ice Cold Grave today. So far this one has been my favorite of the series. I loved what happened with Harper and Tolliver. It's going to be hard for me to wait for the next one to come out in paperback when it's not even out in hardcover yet!

OK, so I'm still at 2 books. I've had no time. I've got less than two weeks to prepare for my exchange student to come. I had this great plan to do it while the boys were gone, but I hurt my back in a big way and I ended up in tears unable to move. Nice. Then I spent the last three days doing youth conference at my church - taking photos of course. Holy cow. Those were REALLY LONG DAYS. Seriously the first day was 8:30-8:30. Yesterday afternoon they had me an Oz-sized bucket lifted up to the ceiling of our gym!!! But hey, I got a killer awesome group shot of the like 150 or whatever teens participating! I took 1400 photos roughly that I have to edit through and then make discs for each of the congregations involved (ten in all).

Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series - the vamps here have alien ancestry...I call this series BDB-lite because of a touch of similarity to Ward's famous series, but less intense.

Linnea Sinclair's Dock Five Universe series - I've read the first two books and I enjoyed it very much. First book is Gabriel's Ghost.

Jayne Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz) Harmony series - Alien technology and dust bunnies, ghost hunters and mysterious catacombs...what else can I say?

I decided to switch out Thorn Queen for Darkfever for my fae selection; I'd grown a little impatient waiting for Thorn Queen to be released next week. I was surprised at how much I liked Darkfever. For me, everything moved at the right pace for a series, especially one with a cliff hanger ending. There were a few passages that I found to be redundant, like the heroine discussing her appearance and figure, and love of pink and what not. However, I love cliff hanger endings and I look forwared to reading the rest of this series.
